Thom Child &amp; Family Services is seeking an Teacher Assistant (between 15 to 20 hours per week) to join their Thom Anne Sullivan Center Early Intervention program team located in Lowell, MA. The Teacher Assistant will assist in center-based or community-based child, parent/child, parent support, or parent education groups. The ideal candidate is a professional who has excellent communication and interpersonal skills and is eager to continue learning. 
Qualifications/Requirements: 
<ul>
<li>High school equivalency with a minimum of three years experience in Early Intervention or similar program plus 30 hours of in-service training, workshops, or college courses in a related field. </li>
<li>Must be able to lift 30 pounds and maintain a current drivers’ license. </li>
<li>CPR certification required.</li>
<li>Maintain appropriate professional boundaries; promote client confidentiality; and exhibit flexibility, sensitivity to cultural differences, and teamwork. </li>
<li>Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel</li>
<li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills</li>
<li>Ability to problem solve, make recommendations, and implement solutions</li>
<li>Bilingual (Spanish/Portuguese) preferred. </li>
</ul>
Job Responsibilities:
<ul>
<li>Participate in the safe transition of children on and off the bus and be familiar with the transportation routine (remove and put car seats and children on/off buses, signing paperwork, etc.) </li>
<li>Greet and interact with children and families before and after groups. (Help orient new families to group routine, touch base with parents after group about their child).</li>
<li>Support and participate with implementation of group activities (preparing snack, washing child’s hands, supporting upset child).</li>
<li>Promote ongoing communication about children in group with other team members (parents/caregivers, group leader, service coordinator, other EI providers).</li>
<li>Communicate and assist group leaders and staff to prepare and implement activities for groups (sensory, art, manipulatives, motor equipment).</li>
<li>Work with group coordinator to maintain inventory of supplies (food, cleaning, art, group equipment).</li>
<li>Be informed of children’s IFSP goals and work with service coordinator and group staff to implement strategies to address them in the group setting.</li>
<li>Maintain cleanliness of group space and materials (wash dishes, sanitation of toys, clean sinks, vacuum, etc.).</li>
<li>Maintain a safe and therapeutic group environment.</li>
<li>Help group coordinator prepare and update group bulletin boards.</li>

Job Description:
Teachers at Pioneer Valley Performing Arts Charter Public School (PVPA) provide students with a supportive and challenging environment that is responsive to multiple learning styles, emphasizes learning through the arts, and integrates critical and creative thinking throughout the curriculum. Since 1996, PVPA has prepared students for higher education by employing a rigorous, standards-based curriculum in a nurturing and collaborative environment. PVPA has an openings for a permanent substitute teachers for the remainder of the 2024-2025 school year. We are looking for a reflective practitioner who enjoys working with students in grades 7-12 and collaborating with colleagues. Permanent substitute teachers work full-time, and are placed as needed in a range of arts and academic classrooms in grades 7-12. Under the direction of the Director of Curriculum &amp; Instruction, you will be responsible for:
 1. Reports to school office 15 minutes prior to start of the school day to pick up required materials/schedule of classes. 2. Carries out a program of study prescribed in lesson plans left by classroom teachers. 3. Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity of the students. 4. Maintains a safe and orderly classroom. 5. Takes attendance in accordance with school procedures. 6. Ensures that students are never left unattended in the classroom. 7. Follows emergency and safety procedures. 8. Follows school procedures and regulations. 9. Writes daily memos to teachers reporting on lesson plan and students. 10. Writes restorative intervention referrals as needed. 11. Performs other related duties as directed.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will minimally hold an Associate’s degree, be able to pass a background check (CORI/SORI &amp; Fingerprinting) and be computer literate. Preferred experience working with middle and high school students.
Other Information/Instructions:
Salary range: Full time $16.22 to $18.22 annualized. 
2024-2025 school year consists of 180 school days plus 5 professional development/curriculum work days and a thirty-five hour work week.

Primary Responsibilities:
<ul>
<li>Be knowledgeable and follow SMOC Child Care and Head Start philosophy; as well as all regulations and performance standards (EEC, Head Start, NAEYC and QRIS) applicable to the assigned classroom.</li>

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
<ul>
<li>EEC Lead PS Teacher certificate.</li>
<li>Degree in ECE or related field preferred.</li>
<li>Must be comfortable working with diverse backgrounds and able to effectively communicate with children, families and co-workers.</li>
<li>Bi-lingual skills a plus.</li>
<li>Priority given to past or present Head Start parents for positions for which they are qualified in the Head Start program.</li>
</ul>
Organizational Relationship: Directly reports to Satellite Director. Indirectly reports to Division Director. Direct reports of this position are Teachers, and Teacher Aides.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to handle the physical aspects of the position including the lifting of a child and moving quickly in the event of an emergency. Recent physical exam determining good health and meeting all EEC requirements.
Working Conditions: As part of the responsibilities of this position, the Lead Teacher will have direct or incidental contact with clients served by SMOC in various programs funded or administered through the Executive Office of Health and Human Services. A successful background check is required.
