Position Overview:
 
This role is key to Franklin Cummings Tech’s efforts to promote and grow its Biotechnology associate’s degree program. 
In the second summer session (July 7-August 22), the Adjunct Lecturer for Early College in Biotechnology will teach two Early College courses for a total of 6 teaching contact hours per week.
The college is seeking an educator with a passion for teaching, learning, and student success, as well as good organizational skills. The instructor must have experience teaching or working with high school students. This is a one-time position with no offer to renew.

Key Responsibilities:
 
Teach two Early College classes in the second summer session that runs from July 7-August 22, 2025.
• Meet all scheduled classes on the assigned day/time 
• Regularly hold three office hours per week 
• Notify Program Chair of any absences from scheduled classes and provide instructional materials and directions to ensure consistent and sequential classroom instruction (note: absences should be rare and unavoidable)
• Participate in departmental curriculum development, and review and update course curricula when possible 
• Demonstrate committed participation in student learning outcome assessment and college-wide initiatives, including data collection, analysis, curriculum changes, and goal setting 
• Use course texts, outlines, and other curriculum materials in accordance with college and department policies. When an established syllabus is provided and the course is a prerequisite for other courses, any significant deviations must be approved by the department chair. 
• Respond to the chair and administrative requests in a timely manner and complete all responsibilities effectively; prompt in keeping appointments, attending meetings (when possible), and beginning classes 
• Respond to students in a timely manner 
• Evaluate student achievement and provide timely feedback while maintaining accurate student records in the Canvas Learning Management System
• Complete the online “Growing with Canvas for Adjuncts” course before the term begins
• Provide adequate support to students and maintain a respectful, professional rapport 
• Participate in communications with the college and department. This includes utilizing the college Dropout Detective Retention Solution warning system to alert advisors when students falter. 
• Demonstrate effective teaching including preparation, meeting course goals, organization, and presentation of material, student involvement, and classroom management 
• Collaborate with other college departments (academic, student affairs, enrollment, and development) for the mutual benefit of all departments.

The Chengji Zhou lab recently relocated from University of California to the ADA Forsyth Institute, has an immediate opening for a Postdoctoral Fellow to study the mechanism and prevention of tissue closure birth defects, including neural tube defects and orofacial clefts, both projects have been funded by NIH. The Zhou lab utilizes molecular, cellular, embryological, genetic, and single-cell genomic approaches to address the mechanisms underlying tissue closure and related birth defects in genetically modified mutant mouse models.

Key Responsibilities:

<li>Teach credit hours per semester as noted on the faculty employment agreement *Courses, listed in the College catalog, may include introductory level courses outside one’s degree area.</li>
<li>Regularly hold three office hours a week, not including paid tutoring hours in the Academic Success Center (ASC).</li>
<li>Participate in departmental curriculum development, and review and update course curricula as needed</li>
<li>Demonstrate committed participation in student learning outcome assessment and college-wide initiatives, including data collection, analysis, curriculum changes, and goal setting</li>
<li>Respond to chair and administrative requests in a timely manner and complete all responsibilities effectively; prompt in keeping appointments, attending meetings, beginning classes, and holding classes the appropriate length of time</li>
<li>Evaluate student achievement and provide weekly feedback while maintaining accurate student records in the Canvas Learning Management System and J1 faculty portal</li>
<li>Provide adequate support to students and maintain a respectful, professional rapport</li>
<li>Demonstrate effective teaching as evidenced by formal chair evaluation, including preparation, meeting course goals, organization, and presentation of material, student involvement, and classroom management</li>
<li>Participation in communications with the College and department. This includes utilizing the College Dropout Detective Retention Solutions warning system to alert advisors when students falter.</li>
<li>Maintain a culture of accountability and innovation; maintain the College policies and procedures, as outlined in the course catalog, employee and student handbooks</li>
<li>Meet departmental needs as outlined by the chair</li>

<li>Associate Degree from a recognized college or university and a Certified License to practice in the subject area to be taught.</li>
<li>Certified License to practice in the automotive industry.</li>
<li>Five (5) years of industry experience in the automotive.</li>
<li>Existing faculty may be grandfathered regarding the educational credentials required when hired.</li>

The Monument Square Early Childhood and School-Age Center provides care for infants, toddlers, preschoolers and school-age children in a renovated elementary school in North Adams. The Center is licensed by the Department of Early Education and Care for 81 children. 
 
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS:

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT:
Must have good physical health to meet demands of teaching: ability to walk, stand, sit, stoop, and lift and carry children weighing up to 50 lbs for extended periods of time as needed; ability to move quickly, maintain visual contact with broad area, and get up and down from the floor, and engage in a variety of physical activities with the children. Must be mature and have good mental health in order to meet the mental demands of working with children. 
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Employees work in a classroom setting, and the noise level is sometimes high. Employees are regularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; reach with both hands and lift up to 50 pounds.
WORK SCHEDULE AND HOURS: Our centers are open from 7:00am until 5:00pm, Monday through Friday. This is a full time, year round position. Schedule will be based on an 8 hour opening or closing shift.

Position Summary:
 
The Early College Success Coach is a passionate advocate for students and actively leads and contributes to institution-wide efforts to further improve graduation and retention rates of our student body. The Early College Student Success Coach manages a large caseload of students by providing academic, career, and personal support to our students. The Early College Student Success Coach reports to the Director of Early College and Community Connections, The Early College Student Success Coach’s main goal is to increase student retention through student support and collaborations. Early College Student Success Coach is the primary contact person for all Early College students, which is a caseload of approximately 80-100 plus students each semester. 
 
Key Responsibilities:
 
· Assist in the planning and execution of New Student Orientation, including facilitating student session,
· Advise and support Early College students weekly during one-on-one advising sessions,
· Participate in Students of Concern Committee to review student attendance, grades, trends, and develop outreach strategies,
· Counsel students through the registration and re-enrollment process each semester 
· Collaboration with High School and community leader liaisons to promote student success,
· Collaboration with Franklin Cummings Tech staff in other departments to ensure student success,
· Keep current on all aspects of academic programs, academic support services, student information system procedures, enrollment processes and procedures, college policies, mission, and philosophy,
· Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Qualifications: 
 
· A bachelor’s degree is required with a background in secondary education, higher education administration, social work, counseling, or special education a plus. 
· A demonstrated sensitivity to understanding the needs and concerns of a diverse urban student population, many of whom are first generation college students, is essential to the incumbent’s success. 
· One-to-three years of successful experience employed in an advising or student success capacity. 
· Understanding of and experience working with students with documented learning disabilities is a plus. 
· Proven experience in leading collaborative efforts between multiple constituencies including, faculty, staff, students, and members of the local community. 
· Excellent oral and written communication skills and strong presentation skills with demonstrated ability to develop interpersonal and organizational relationships. 
· Be a highly-motivated self-starter with the ability to collaborate, effectively and respectfully, with Student Services, Franklin Cummings Tech staff and faculty, as well as advocates and community-based organizations toward student success. 
· Knowledge of the enrollment process including federal financial aid. 
· Knowledge of Microsoft Office, student information and early alert systems, such as Canvas, Signal Vine, and familiarity of online job recruiting platforms such as Handshake. 
· Self-motivated with the ability to work in a fast-paced team-focused environment, the ability to multitask, and the ability to pay special attention to detail. Excellent leadership and teamwork skills with the ability to work independently, determine priorities, and meet multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
