Our law firm is seeking a family attorney who can assist clients in navigating the sensitive legal issues of family law, including child custody, child abuse, and domestic violence. $80,000 - $100,000 + annual base salary
Responsibilities:
<ul>
<li>Keep client files properly organized and up to date</li>
<li>Communicate with senior partners and paralegals to effectively move through the civil litigation process</li>
<li>Prepare legal documents such as legal pleadings, motions, marital settlement agreements, contracts, judgments, and orders for a high volume of cases</li>
<li>Ensure clients are effectively represented at court hearings as needed</li>
<li>Advocate on behalf of clients by understanding their needs, effectively analyzing the situation and forming a strategy for a plan of action</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Meet with clients to determine their goals and develop a case strategy</li>
<li>Ensure timely communication with clients</li>
<li>Negotiate with opposing counsel and pro se opposing parties</li>
<li>Draft pleadings including motions for temporary orders, motions to vacate the marital home, separation agreements, pre-trial memos, and position statements for use in GAL investigations and conciliation</li>
<li>Prepare and advocate for clients at all court hearings and case events</li>
<li>Collaborate with all members of the legal team, including the Founding Attorney, Case Manager, and other attorneys</li>
</ul>
Qualifications:
<ul>
<li>Previous criminal justice or other legal background preferred</li>
<li>Proven record of success in advocating for plaintiffs and defendants </li>
<li>Must have worked on family law issues for at least 1-2 years; handling of real estate also required </li>
<li>Candidates should be great negotiators and communicators, specifically in situations when emotions and stress are high</li>
<li>4-year degree with a legal background and J.D. degree are necessary for this position</li>
