Position Summary
The Mechanical Technician - Suppression will be responsible for functional and development testing of fire suppression systems and assist Mechanical and Fire Protection Engineers with test setup, test execution and documentation. Performs research and engineering laboratory functions involving the layout, building, testing, troubleshooting, repairing and modification of fire suppression systems and the associated auxiliary equipment. Strong emphasis on supporting product testing including system discharge tests, fire extinguishing tests and mechanical hardware tests. Majority of activity is in collaboration with engineers and other technicians across a broad range of projects. Support of some testing will be required in an outdoor environment at our test facility in Holliston, MA. 
Specific responsibilities for this position include:

<li>Work under limited supervision to provide technical support and task ownership to Suppression engineers on a variety of engineering tasks.</li>

<li>Set-up of fire test configurations, associated fire suppression equipment and installation of piping networks. </li>
<li>Fill and pressurize test cylinders; Recondition cylinders and valves. This work periodically requires moving and lifting components in excess of 50 lbs. with the proper equipment and procedures.</li>
<li>Conduct discharge tests and fire tests.</li>
<li>Maintain equipment and tools in safe operating condition and support timely calibration tracking.</li>
<li>Collaborate with colleagues to maintain and manage inventory of key suppression equipment and assemblies </li>

<li>Perform installation of all our products, including un-crating, setting products in place, leveling, connecting utilities to the system, and testing / SAT. Complete all required service documentation associated with the installation activity, startup testing, and the Operational Qualification checklist.</li>
<li>Maintain accurate records for all work performed. Close out installation and preventive maintenance documentation by completing total labor and travel hours applied to the work order</li>
<li>Complete installation and preventive maintenance documentation to accurately document activities, including follow-up actions when required</li>
<li>Participate in customer/contractor safety orientation training ensuring required PPE is used and implement preventative safety practices</li>
<li>Abide by all our and customer health &amp; safety protocols and procedures</li>
<li>Provide customers’ support team with initial engineering in-service/training</li>
<li>Ensure professionalism in both appearance and behavior is always maintained at customer site</li>
<li>Follow customer policies and requirements while performing all installation and service activities</li>
<li>Troubleshoots, analyzes, prioritizes, and resolves and/or facilitates resolutions for all problems dealing with in-use equipment</li>
<li>Receives and then assures that all reported quality issues are logged in the appropriate database and will communicate back to the field any relevant resolutions</li>
<li>Provides moderate to high level technical support to customer technicians</li>
<li>Maintains data integrity in all aspects of customer contact, beginning with the initial customer contact (case initiation) through service support (work order initiation/resolution), billing, quality collection (issues, solutions), and case closure</li>
<li>Demonstrates superior customer service skills by keeping a positive, caring, can-do attitude and by providing timely updates</li>
<li>Responds to daily customer phone contact to resolve technical/part identification/procurement problems</li>
<li>Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor or management</li>

Our Perfect Candidate
Education and Experience:
<ul>
<li>High school diploma</li>
<li>Technical Associate or Bachelor degree preferred</li>
<li>3 - 5 years Technical Support experience or Customer Service experience</li>
<li>Experience in interpretation and modification of blueprints, technical literature/drawings and C.A.D. drawings required</li>
<li>Capital equipment installation experience preferred</li>
<li>Experience troubleshooting steam, water and pneumatic process control and PLC systems</li>
<li>Experience working in the Biotech / GMP field is preferred </li>
<li>Experience using power/air tools, OSHA 10 or 30 Certification in Construction Safety is preferred, but not required</li>
</ul>

<li>Must travel to customer sites that include, but are not limited to laboratories, pharmaceutical production facilities and animal research centers, often in a construction environment</li>
<li>Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as business need dictates</li>
<li>Ability to support rotating on-call schedule and provide emergency services, 24/7/365</li>
<li>Must be able to travel overnight as much as 40% away from home</li>

Summary
This individual is on the front line, ensuring customer satisfaction by responding to requests for onsite service at customer locations in their assigned territory. 
This position requires daily travel throughout the assigned service territory and includes benefits like a company supplied vehicle (for work use only), essential tools, and per diem if overnight travel is required.
Responsibilities
<ul>
<li>Ensuring customer needs are met for any Point of Sale hardware. Examples include: computers, servers, printers, scales and wrappers, network equipment, wireless devices, self-checkout, etc. </li>
<li>Responding to issues that are reported with the appropriate troubleshooting, diagnostics, repair, and thorough testing of equipment.</li>
