Position Summary:
The Assistant/Associate Director lends direct support to the Director of Financial Aid for the management and general administration of student financial aid programs, and directly manages the Federal Work Study, Fellowship, and Loan Repayment Assistance (LRAP) programs. We are currently looking for a Long-Term Substitute Special Education Teacher to cover a leave of absence from approximately the end of June until the end of November, including a 4-week summer session. 
 
The Long-Term Substitute Special Education Teacher in our Anderson School will cover the Special Education Teacher’s responsibilities including, develops and implements curriculum and IEPs, maintains all necessary records/documentation, and providing overall direction and leadership within the classroom. School hours are Monday-Friday from 8:00 am – 3:00 pm and follows a school calendar, including holidays and closing periods, with a summer session.
 
Requirements:
<ul>
<li>Current or application in process for a Massachusetts DESE Licensure (Pre-K-8) in moderate or severe disabilities is required. </li>
<li>Bachelor’s and/or master’s degree with major in Special Education. </li>
<li>Special Education classroom experience and/or internship(s) with students ages 3-12 who have a wide range of multiple disabilities. </li>
<li>Experience implementing all parts of the IEP process. </li>
<li>Excellent oral and written communication skills. </li>
<li>Ability to use technology effectively. </li>
<li>Ability to handle a multitude of varying and complex issues. </li>
<li>Suitable background check. </li>
<li>Mostly active - must be able to sit, bend, kneel and lift 25 pounds. </li>

Duties and Responsibilities
<ul>
<li>Coordinates developmentally appropriate curriculum schedules alongside the classroom Lead Teacher.</li>
<li>Maintains EEC regulations.</li>
<li>Performs teaching responsibilities.</li>
<li>Ensures daily operation of the classroom are safe, encouraging positive interactions and productive educational activities.</li>
<li>Responsible for children’s care and supervision.</li>
<li>Addresses, monitors and documents issues, concerns and problems of each individual child and discusses with the Lead Teacher/ Program Director.</li>
<li>Develops and maintains a positive and confidential relationship with the families of every child, including through communication about the school and each child’s progress.</li>
<li>Encourages parent interest and involvement in the school. Seeks a partnership with parents. Maintains confidentiality.</li>
<li>Supports Lead Teacher in completing children’s evaluations as required. Maintains accurate knowledge of documentation in children’s files. Meets with parents during the year with the Lead Teacher as required.</li>
<li>Supports Lead Teacher in creating and distributing in a timely manner classroom information for families, including: classroom newsletter, calendar and curriculum new and notices.</li>
<li>Adheres to all established policies, procedures and code of ethics.</li>
<li>Participates in required training programs, conferences, courses or other aspects of professional growth.</li>
<li>Attends faculty meetings as required.</li>
<li>Attends to individual needs of children in classroom environment including hygiene and personal care activities as needed.</li>
<li>Serves as a mandated reporter and reports any suspicion of child abuse or neglect to the Director for follow through.</li>
