The CNC Machine Operator Trainee should expect to work in a team environment under supervision of trainers, leads, supervisors, and quality.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
<ul>
<li>Introduction to all machine related controlled documentation.</li>
<li>Introduction to replacing and setting tools.</li>
<li>Introduction to cutting angles, cutting surface and tool geometry.</li>
<li>Introduction to tool identification, components, assembly, and causes of wear.</li>
<li>Introduction to alarm codes and notification lights that trainees should be able to identify but not solve to action and escalate appropriately; this includes broken tool alarms, tool change warnings, and tool change alerts.</li>
<li>Develop basic blueprint reading skills through classroom training, e-learning, and process shadowing.</li>
<li>Develop an understanding of loading and unloading machines in a safe consistent manner under direct supervision of trainers.</li>
<li>Learn how to use equators and other handheld precision measuring equipment.</li>
<li>Complete training assignments during the allotted time as indicated by the instructor/trainer.</li>
<li>Participate in groups during training exercises.</li>
<li>Participate in and sustain 5S Standards.</li>
<li>Must follow all required Safety and ISO procedures.</li>
<li>Regular on-site attendance and punctuality is a necessary function of this position.</li>
<li>May be required to work in other functional areas and/or facilities depending on business needs.</li>
<li>May be required to work overtime or alternate shifts based on business needs.</li>
<li>Miscellaneous duties as assigned.</li>
</ul>
Education/Experience &amp; Skills:
<ul>
<li>High school diploma or general education degree (GED), related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.</li>
<li>Typically requires 90-days in SIG's CNC Bootcamp.</li>
<li>Must be able to read and understand work instructions in English.</li>
<li>Must be able to convey ideas and information clearly, concisely, and accurately to others in English, both verbally and in written form.</li>
<li>Basic computer and math skills are required.</li>
<li>Some experience reading drawings is helpful but not required.</li>
<li>Basic knowledge of “Machinist” or manufacturing terminology.</li>
</ul>
Working Conditions:
<ul>
<li>Regularly perform repetitive tasks.</li>
<li>Work is primarily standing (90 + % of the shift) except for lunch and break periods.</li>
<li>Shifts are 8 hours, 10 hours, and 12 hours.</li>
<li>The duties of this job normally require exposure to a typical manufacturing environment. Frequent standing, sitting, stooping/squatting, walking, and stair climbing can be expected along with frequent lifting and/or moving of tooling, parts containers, and materials up to 40 pounds.</li>
<li>Must be able to reach with hands and arms, bend and kneel frequently at a minimum of 50% of the shift, as well as undergo repetitive wrist, hand, elbow, shoulder, and ankle motions.</li>
<li>Must demonstrate proficient fine motor skills, ability to grip, reach, pull, turn, and use tools to torque fixtures in various machinery or in the assembly, machining, or testing of parts.</li>
<li>Specific vision abilities required may include close vision, distance vision, peripheral and depth perception, and the ability to focus on fine print.</li>
<li>Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) where required.</li>
<li>Must comply with all work exposure EH&amp;S training requirements and adhere to SIG SAUER Inc. security mandates.</li>
