Subordinates: Elementary School Assistant Principal and all Elementary School Staff
Position Type: Full-Time, Exempt, Annual Position
School Year: Immediate Opening 2025-2026 School Year
Salary: Based on Experience, $108,000 - $120,000
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Elementary School Principal will be responsible for fostering a culture of academic excellence, inclusivity, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will have a deep commitment to student achievement, faculty development, and community engagement while ensuring compliance with Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) regulations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide strategic leadership in the development and implementation of curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices aligned with Massachusetts state standards.

Cultivate a positive, inclusive, and equitable school climate that fosters student success and teacher growth.

Recruit, mentor, and evaluate teachers and staff to support high-quality instruction and professional development.

Oversee student discipline, attendance, and behavioral interventions in collaboration with teachers and support staff.

Ensure compliance with all Massachusetts DESE regulations, including the requirements for SEI (Sheltered English Immersion) Endorsement.

Develop and oversee the school's budget, ensuring the effective allocation of resources.

Engage with families, local community organizations, and stakeholders to foster a strong school-community partnership.

Lead initiatives to promote social-emotional learning (SEL) and culturally responsive teaching.

Utilize data-driven decision-making to enhance student performance and operational effectiveness.

Ensure compliance with state and federal laws, including special education and English learner programming.

Provide continuous professional feedback using observations, performance evaluations, and other coaching opportunities.

Adhere to all School policies in partnership with Human Resources and Executive Leadership, when necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPECTATIONS:

Master’s degree or higher in Educational Leadership, Administration, or a related field.

Massachusetts DESE Principal/Assistant Principal (PreK-6) License required.

SEI Endorsement required; additional bilingual/ESL certifications preferred.

Minimum of five years of successful teaching experience preferred; administrative/leadership experience in an elementary setting required.

Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities; expertise in curriculum development and instructional best practices.

Experience working in a charter school environment preferred.

Demonstrated success in improving student achievement and teacher effectiveness.

Knowledge of data-driven instructional strategies and educational technology.

Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in education.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Background check and fingerprinting as required by Massachusetts state regulations.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Must be able to lift, move, or assist students when necessary.

Completion of any required professional development or certifications as mandated by the District.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position operates in a school and office setting.
-
Some travel between schools may be required.
-
Occasional evening and weekend events for Board of Trustee meetings, parent meetings, academic and/or athletic events, or professional development may be necessary.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Ability to stand for extended periods, lift (up to 50 lbs.), and perform repetitive motions.

Frequent bending, crouching, stooping, and stretching.

Standing or walking for the entirety of an 8-hour shift.

Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment requiring multitasking and attention to detail.

Compensation and Benefits:
