Our partner is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead the planning, design, and delivery of complex transportation infrastructure projects, with a primary focus on highway and roadway systems. This role involves overseeing projects from concept through construction, building strong client relationships, and mentoring team members. The position offers a hybrid structure, combining in-office collaboration with remote flexibility.
Responsibilities
Project Leadership
- Manage and deliver multiple highway and traffic design projects for municipal and state clients.
- Develop project scopes, budgets, schedules, and contracts.
- Oversee all project phases to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
- Coordinate staff allocation and task scheduling.
- Support business development opportunities.
Technical Oversight & Quality Assurance
- Ensure deliverables meet standards, client needs, and regulatory requirements.
- Provide expertise in highway and roadway design and construction management.
- Conduct QA/QC reviews of design documents.
- Identify and mitigate risks to resolve project challenges.
Team & Staff Management
- Lead multidisciplinary design teams.
- Collaborate on recruitment and hiring.
- Mentor and develop junior staff and project managers.
Client & Stakeholder Engagement
- Serve as liaison with Departments of Transportation, municipalities, consultants, and regulatory agencies.
- Prepare and deliver presentations, reports, and updates.
- Build and maintain client relationships.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field (Master’s preferred).
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- 15+ years of experience in transportation project management, with emphasis on highways and roadways.
- Experience with MassDOT preferred.
- Proven ability to manage complex, multidisciplinary infrastructure projects.
- Strong leadership, communication, and client engagement skills.
- Experience in contract negotiations, scope development, and budgeting.
- Ability to manage schedules and teams across multiple projects.
