Our partner is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead the planning, design, and delivery of complex transportation infrastructure projects, with a primary focus on highway and roadway systems. This role involves overseeing projects from concept through construction, building strong client relationships, and mentoring team members. The position offers a hybrid structure, combining in-office collaboration with remote flexibility.

Responsibilities

Project Leadership

  • Manage and deliver multiple highway and traffic design projects for municipal and state clients.
  • Develop project scopes, budgets, schedules, and contracts.
  • Oversee all project phases to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
  • Coordinate staff allocation and task scheduling.
  • Support business development opportunities.

Technical Oversight & Quality Assurance

  • Ensure deliverables meet standards, client needs, and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide expertise in highway and roadway design and construction management.
  • Conduct QA/QC reviews of design documents.
  • Identify and mitigate risks to resolve project challenges.

Team & Staff Management

  • Lead multidisciplinary design teams.
  • Collaborate on recruitment and hiring.
  • Mentor and develop junior staff and project managers.

Client & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Serve as liaison with Departments of Transportation, municipalities, consultants, and regulatory agencies.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations, reports, and updates.
  • Build and maintain client relationships.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • 15+ years of experience in transportation project management, with emphasis on highways and roadways.
  • Experience with MassDOT preferred.
  • Proven ability to manage complex, multidisciplinary infrastructure projects.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and client engagement skills.
  • Experience in contract negotiations, scope development, and budgeting.
  • Ability to manage schedules and teams across multiple projects.
