Job DescriptionDescriptionTitle: Swim AidPosition Type: Non-Exempt (Hourly) 
Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Aquatics Director, this position is responsible for assisting certified YSL Aquatic Instructors during lessons.  This position will work only under the supervision of a YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor.
Key ResponsibilitiesESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES/PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES:
- Assist aquatics instructors during swim classes.
 - Be prepared for class. Have all equipment available and ready prior to swim class. Assist in putting away all equipment after swim classes.
 - Maintain a professional image and manner consistent with the YMCA mission and goals at all times.
 - Ensure a clean and safe pool environment at all times.
 - Engage in active listening with members in order to build relationships, understand each individual’s goals and interests and take the initiative to assist in the achievement of those goals.
 - Attend mandatory monthly in-service training. Attend mandatory twice per year association trainings.
 - May be required to work one on one with individual students during group classes.
 - All other duties as assigned.
 
Skills, Knowledge and ExpertiseEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 
- Swim Aide is for 15 years of age to 15 years and 11 months of age
 - No experience necessary.
 
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Physically and verbally able to interact with members and staff.
 - May be required to be in the pool for an extended period of time.
 - At times, be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
 
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
 - Shifts vary, but may include early mornings, nights, and weekends.
