Our client is seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Facilities Operations to lead facilities management services at a 73-bed acute care community hospital that provides a broad range of services including emergency care, inpatient and outpatient surgery, intensive care, and several specialized care centers. The hospital is Joint Commission accredited and has recently undergone major capital expansions, including modern surgical suites and a state-of-the-art cancer center.
About the Role
The Director of Facilities Operations is responsible for all aspects of facilities and building operations, ensuring a safe, efficient, and compliant environment in support of patient care and hospital services. This includes oversight of preventive and corrective maintenance, capital project execution, compliance readiness, and leadership of a multidisciplinary facilities team.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all aspects of facilities operations, including building maintenance, systems reliability, and infrastructure support.
- Direct preventive and corrective maintenance programs to ensure equipment and facility reliability.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, including Joint Commission and other accrediting agencies.
- Coordinate and oversee capital improvement projects and renovations in collaboration with leadership and external contractors.
- Recruit, train, and develop a multidisciplinary team of technicians and maintenance staff, while managing performance and engagement.
- Partner with hospital administration to support patient care services and operational goals.
- Maintain emergency preparedness programs and support safety initiatives and sustainability efforts.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
- 5+ years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare facilities management.
- Strong knowledge of The Joint Commission, OSHA, NFPA, and other regulatory standards.
- Proven track record managing capital projects and vendor relationships.
- CHFM certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and team leadership skills.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelors degree or equivalent experience.
- At least 5 years of management experience.
- At least 5 years of functional experience in facilities management.
