Description:
We are seeking an experienced Machinist Technician to join a leading aerospace/advanced manufacturing operation in Devens, MA. This is a 100% onsite, permanent opportunity offering long-term stability, growth potential, and a clean, well-run production environment.
Candidates with backgrounds from Collins Aerospace, Northrop Grumman, Pratt & Whitney, Magellan Aerospace, or GE tend to excel in this role.
About the Role
The Machinist Technician operates multiple production machines, working from blueprints, sketches, and route sheets to produce precision components. You’ll be part of a collaborative team focused on quality, efficiency, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and run various production machines.
- Perform machining operations including cutting, shaping, drilling, reaming, deburring, forming, and reworking parts.
- Make machine adjustments and report improper functioning.
- Perform secondary operations: tapping, chamfering, countersinking, counterboring, spot-facing, etc.
- Use fixtures, jigs, and established methods to align and fasten parts.
- Adjust feeds, speeds, and depth of cut per documentation.
- Remove burrs, tool marks, and irregularities on machined parts.
- Inspect parts using gauges, comparators, measuring tools, and magnification equipment.
- Conduct regular SPC reporting per division requirements.
- Maintain equipment cleanliness, accuracy, and reliability.
- Support lean manufacturing initiatives and contribute suggestions.
- Follow all safety policies and maintain a clean work area.
- Perform other relevant tasks as needed.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years machining experience.
- Experience holding tight tolerances (.003” or better preferred).
- Proficient with inspection equipment and blueprint reading.
- Understanding of machine shop math (including some trigonometry).
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
- Experience with lean practices and continuous improvement.
- Ability to interpret reports and use job-specific software systems.
- Demonstrated reliability, attention to detail, and commitment to quality.
