Looking for an amazing opportunity to be part of a team that has created, and continues to create, interesting curriculum in a unique school? Lovell Academy opened its doors in Fall 2022 and is now looking to add an innovative and experienced educator to teach our student-athletes. This individual needs to be a flexible self-starter who embraces the opportunity to join a team which is still in the initial stages of creating a dynamic new school.
Lovell Academy, located in Rockland, MA is a boarding school specifically designed to educate 132 elite student-athletes (hockey), grades 8-PG. At Lovell, academics and athletics reinforce and support each student’s development without compromising the quality or depth of either component. We aim to educate the whole student and have created a program and schedule that maximizes the opportunities for academic, athletic, and personal growth.
Lovell Academy’s teaching faculty is committed to academic excellence and is passionate about teaching and working with adolescents. The faculty create classroom environments that facilitate learning and critical thinking, and deliver innovative and interdisciplinary curriculum.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teach multiple levels of high school History and Social Studies
- Support student learning through an innovative and interdisciplinary curriculum
- Design lessons and units which incorporate the teaching objectives, materials, methods, and means of assessment used within the department
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress
- Participate in ongoing professional development
- Be open to interdisciplinary collaboration with colleagues and outside institutions
- Be present and accessible to students and colleagues during school hours

- Manage sensitive and confidential school, student, parent, and employee information
- Appreciate and respect the role athletics play in a Lovell Academy student’s life and personal development
- Demonstrate content knowledge and pedagogic skill relative to History and
- Social Studies instruction
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development and best practices
- Use a variety of pedagogical approaches, including inquiry-based learning and project-based learning
- Become involved in the school community beyond the classroom setting
- Use educational technology and learning management systems
Requirements:
Qualifications or Comparable Experience:
- Master’s Degree preferred with a minimum of five years teaching History and Social Studies
- Entrepreneurial spirit and a commitment to interdisciplinary work
- Typical work hours are limited to Monday through Friday, with additional days/hours required at times for scheduled school events and occasional supervision of students in the boarding house
