A school nurse position is available at a middle school in Dover, NH, for the current school year contract. This role requires providing nursing care to a 1:1 male student with Type I Diabetes, with bus riding responsibilities included in the schedule. The position is full-time, Monday through Friday, with working hours approximately from 6:30 AM to 2:30 PM, incorporating bus transportation times and potential early releases.
Key Qualifications:
- Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) licensed in New Hampshire
- LPN candidates must have training and experience managing Type I Diabetes
- Ability to work under the supervision of an RN while on school premises
- Experience working with school-aged children in a nursing capacity preferred
- Reliable transportation and willingness to ride the school bus as part of daily responsibilities
- Strong communication and organizational skills to coordinate care within the school environment
Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized nursing care specifically for a student with Type I Diabetes
- Monitor and manage blood glucose levels, insulin administration, and related health needs
- Collaborate with school staff, parents, and healthcare providers to support the students health and safety
- Provide health education and emergency response as needed
- Fulfill bus riding duties, ensuring safety and care during transportation
