Nova Biomedical is hiring a Reagent Manufacturing Manager. This individual is responsible for all day-to-day activities of the reagent manufacturing operations over two shifts. This includes planning through final packaging of all calibrator packs, external standards, controls and miscellaneous reagents for Nova core products as well as OEM products. Short term goals are to deliver product to customers on-time with high quality and minimal scrap. Long term goals include continuous improvement products, personnel and processes utilizing resources such as R&D, QC/QA, Tech Support and Consumable Engineering.
Reporting Relationships
Reporting to this individual are approximately 65 - 75 employees including supervisors, formulation, test, controls, filling, packaging and calibration/maintenance technicians.
Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day operations with an eye towards continuous improvement and growth. This includes: overtime control, minimal scrap, elimination of rework, training of employees, improvement of lead times, labor utilization, cost reduction and productivity improvements.
- Work closely with Master Scheduling and Purchasing to meet customer demand and minimize raw and finished goods inventory, finished goods scrap and provide a smooth flow of product.
- Review large orders from subsidiaries and dealers to determine the best possible ship date to maximize product shelf life.
- Oversee OEM production schedules to deliver product on desired due dates by the customer.
- Oversee the use of Kanban systems for all chemicals and packaging materials.
- Assure all SAP transactions for materials are cycle counts are properly done to eliminate down time due to unavailability of material.
- Periodically review processes/products and work with engineering to reduce lead time and cost of products if applicable through lean manufacturing techniques.
- Work closely with department to develop all employees to be of the highest talent level through training and professional development.
- Work closely with supervisors as to pay plans, budgets, scrap and fiscal responsibility to be in line with corporate financial goals.
- Review and implement metrics for zero defects, scrap reduction, cycle count accuracy and product yields.
- Strong at team building techniques to assure the organization is all working in unison to meet the corporate goals.
Qualifications
- Type I Wastewater License is desired.
- Knowledge of SAP or similar system for inventory management.
- Solid understanding of assembly line manufacturing and labor requirements.
Skills and Competencies
- Good communication within the department. e Knowledge of FDA QSR and ISO regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to multi-task and thrive in a team environment.
Education
B.S. /B.A in Biology/Chemistry or Chemical Engineering.
Experience
Minimum 10 years of experience with a manufacturing environment. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office.
