Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A rewarding opportunity is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support communication needs within a high school setting in Peterborough, NH. This contract position spans the full school year, providing essential services to enhance student engagement and accessibility.

Key Responsibilities:

• Facilitate effective communication between Deaf or Hard of Hearing students and their teachers, peers, and staff.
• Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and school activities in American Sign Language (ASL) with accuracy and clarity.
• Collaborate closely with educational staff to ensure all students have equal access to the curriculum.
• Attend meetings, extracurricular events, and other school functions as needed to provide interpreting services.
• Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism in all interactions.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language, with certification or equivalent experience.
• Previous experience interpreting in educational settings is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of Deaf culture and sensitivity to diverse student needs.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
