Mechanical / Machine Assembly Technician – 2nd Shift
- Location: Sudbury, MA
- Employment Type: Temp-to-Perm
- Pay Rate: $25–$30/hr
- Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 3:30 PM – 2:00 AM (40 hours over 4 nights)
- Training: 1st shift for 2–3 months before transitioning to 2nd shift

Are you a hands-on Mechanical Assembler with experience building large machinery, mechanical systems, or even automotive engines and drivetrains? A growing manufacturing operation in Sudbury is expanding their team and looking for multiple assembly technicians to support the build of large CNC equipment. This is not small-parts assembly—this work involves full machine systems, precision components, and detailed engineering documentation.
About the Role
As a Machine Assembly Technician, you will assemble intricate mechanical and electrical components and sub-assemblies according to engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards. You’ll work closely with engineers, senior assemblers, and quality teams to ensure each machine is built accurately, safely, and on schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and work instructions
- Assemble precision mechanical and electrical components and large machine systems
- Use hand tools, power tools, and measuring equipment to fit, align, and verify parts to tight tolerances
- Inspect components and assemblies for accuracy and completeness
- Troubleshoot mechanical and/or electrical issues during assembly
- Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to improve assembly processes
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Properly pack machines with protective material to prevent damage
- Follow all safety and quality system requirements
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3+ years of mechanical assembly, machine building, or related experience
- Mechanic or automotive repair experience is also highly relevant and transferable
- Experience assembling large machinery (not small-parts manufacturing)
- Ability to read complex engineering drawings and schematics
- Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude
- Skilled with hand tools, power tools, and measurement instruments
- High attention to detail and comfort working with tight tolerances
- Strong communication skills and ability to work well within a team
- Valid driver’s license
