Senior Design Hardware Engineer

Location: Boston, MA

Pay: $125,000.00 - $175,000.00 / year

Overview
We are seeking an innovative Hardware Engineer to design, develop, and test electronic hardware components and systems for brain-computer interface devices. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in circuit design, PCB layout, and embedded systems, along with cross-disciplinary knowledge in materials science and mechanical considerations. You will be responsible for leading projects from conception through to production while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure successful implementation.

Duties

  • Design and develop hardware systems, including schematic capture and PCB layout
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (firmware, mechanical, software, neuroscience) to define hardware requirements and prototype
  • Prototype and test circuit boards to validate performance, reliability, and manufacturability
  • Select appropriate components based on design requirements, cost, availability, and lifecycle
  • Troubleshoot and debug hardware issues using tools like oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and multimeters
  • Support the transition of designs from prototype to production, including DFM/DFT considerations
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation, including schematics, BOMs, test reports, and technical specifications

Requirements

  • Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in hardware design and development
  • Experience with health sensors or sensors that stream data
  • Proficiency in ECAD tools such as Altium Designer, Eagle, KiCad, or OrCAD
  • Solid understanding of embedded systems and microcontroller/microprocessor architectures
  • Familiarity with signal integrity, EMI/EMC principles
  • Experience with BLE and Bluetooth Classic
  • Experience designing ultra-low-noise analog circuits
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or in a team environment
  • Knowledge of Python, C/C++, or scripting for test automation
  • Experience in mechanical and materials considerations for prototyping
  • Taken a product from the initial idea through mass production
