Position Description
We are seeking an experienced Site Director to oversee the day-to-day operations at certain laboratory facilities. This role is critical in managing lab activities, maintaining equipment, and ensuring compliance with safety and cleanliness standards. The Site Director will also foster strong relationships with our member companies, ensuring their needs are met and helping to troubleshoot and solve their lab operations problems. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in laboratory management within the biotech / life science sector, combined with exceptional leadership and communication skills.
Position Responsibilities
· Laboratory Management:
o Oversee the daily operations of laboratory facilities, ensuring efficient workflows, optimal use of resources, and a meticulously maintained, world-class laboratory environment.
o Manage and maintain laboratory equipment, including scheduling maintenance and repairs, and ensuring compliance with operational standards.
· Member Company Relations:
o Serve as the primary day-to-day point of contact with our member companies,
o Foster strong relationships with scientists and serving as the “go to” person to identify and solve their operational headaches so that members can focus on advancing their science.
o Ensuring Labshares operates a shared lab environment that works for all members
· Vendor Management:
o Develop and manage relationships with equipment suppliers, service providers, and other relevant vendors.
o Monitor vendor performance to ensure compliance, quality of service, and price competitiveness.
· Safety and Compliance:
o Establish and enforce safety protocols to maintain a clean and safe laboratory environment.
o Interface with and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations regarding laboratory operations and safety standards.
· Team Leadership:
o Lead and mentor laboratory staff, promoting a culture of teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement.
o Conduct regular training sessions to enhance staff skills and knowledge related to lab operations and safety protocols.
· Operational Excellence:
o Implement best practices for laboratory management
o Monitor laboratory performance metrics and develop strategies for improvement.
Qualifications
· Full-time, on-site role. There is no opportunity for remote work.
· Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry); advanced degree preferred.
· 7+ years of experience in laboratory management within the biotech or life sciences industry.
· Strong understanding of laboratory operations, equipment maintenance, and safety regulations.
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with diverse stakeholders.
· Strong leadership skills with a focus on team development and performance management.
· Proven experience in contract negotiation and management.
· Proficient in laboratory management software and tools.
