Job DescriptionSalary: $50,000-$53,000 plus benefits
Historic New England (HNE) seeks a full-time Site Manager for the management and marketing of four museum properties located in Newbury, MA and Amesbury, MA. An adept multi-tasker experienced in managing historic site operations, the Site Manager, Newbury serves as HNE's liaison to the communities and operates the museums in conjunction with other HNE teams and within procedures established by the organization.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Initiates and supports efforts to meet or exceed established attendance and revenue goals through innovative programs, fundraising, membership, marketing, general tour admissions, group tours, function rentals, existing land and tenancy agreements, and community relations.
- Serves as the first line in monitoring for pest management, property care and collection concerns at the Newbury museums, bringing issues to the attention of responsible staff. Helps coordinate on-site property and collections care work.
- Coordinates farm operations and maintenance of farm equipment in collaboration with Farm Educator.
- Hires, trains, and supervises house guides, and interns.
- Trains interpreters on tour content, guide professionalism, point-of-sale technology, and security measures as well as handling objects and preventive care.
- Ensures the best possible visitor experience by regular assessment of all public services including regular evaluation of guides and soliciting ongoing feedback from visitors.
- Assists with as needed care of farm animals working with the Farm Educator.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors degree in a relevant field or equivalent combination of skilled credentials to include four (4) years of highly independent related employment experience
- Experience with non-profit institutions managing historic site operations, including financial skills is required, along with supervisory experience, problem-solving ability, familiarity with team approach and multi-tasking, and strong communication skills.
- Fully competent computer skills, including word processing and database use, strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Flexible availability for occasional evening and weekend work, and as needed on-call response.
- Valid drivers license and means of transportation

- New England residency required
