Position Title: Surgical Coordinator / Patient Care Coordinator
Pay Status: Hourly
Job Type: Full-Time, Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM
Location: Bedford, NH or Nashua, NH (location to be determined; must be able to travel to either or both locations as needed — 17 Riverside Street, Nashua and 9 Washington Place, Bedford)

Position Summary

The Surgical Coordinator is responsible for managing physician schedules, coordinating patient appointments, facilitating communication between patients, physicians, and third parties, and ensuring efficient workflow within the practice. This role supports the delivery of high-quality patient care by maintaining organized schedules, handling patient requests in accordance with established protocols, and serving as a liaison among internal and external providers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Schedule new patient appointments based on physician-specific criteria.

  • Schedule follow-up appointments as needed.

  • Respond to patient inquiries regarding their medical condition, following physician-established protocols.

  • Coordinate communication between physicians and managed care personnel.

  • Maintain and update the daily physician schedule.

  • Sort, distribute, and manage physician mail.

  • Serve as a liaison between hospital departments (lab, radiology, ER, etc.), physical therapy facilities, and other ancillary care providers to meet patient and physician needs.

  • Complete insurance, disability, and other patient-related forms (e.g., out-of-work/gym requests) as required.

  • Provide assistance in clinical areas when necessary.

  • Perform other administrative office duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Medical Assistant (MA), LPN, RN, or equivalent relevant medical experience required.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in orthopaedics or a related medical specialty preferred.

  • Strong organizational and communication skills.

  • Working knowledge of medical terminology and orthopaedic procedures.

  • Proficiency in computerized appointment scheduling systems.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit for extended periods.

  • Frequent phone interaction and use of computer systems.
