Master’s degree in School Counseling, Counseling or a related field, active School Counselor license and 1+ years School Counselor experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A K-12 educational institution in Holyoke, MA, is seeking an experienced Adjustment Counselor to support and guide students through social, emotional, and behavioral challenges. This contract position during the current school year (CSY) offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a dynamic school environment.
Responsibilities:
- Provide counseling services to K-12 students facing adjustment and behavioral issues
- Conduct assessments and gather detailed information to develop individualized intervention plans
- Collaborate closely with teachers, administrators, and families to coordinate support and monitor student progress
- Facilitate group and individual counseling sessions focused on social skills, conflict resolution, and emotional regulation
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of student interactions and treatment plans
- Offer onsite support and implement strategies to promote positive behavioral development, especially if transitioning to virtual-based delivery models (VBD)
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to develop prehensive student support strategies
Qualifications:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or related field
- Relevant certification or licensure as an Adjustment Counselor or School Counselor
- Experience working with K-12 students in a school setting
- Strong knowledge of adolescent development and behavior management techniques
- Excellent munication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with students, staff, and families
- Ability to gather and analyze behavioral data to inform counseling strategies
- Flexibility to provide onsite services and adapt to changing school delivery models
