General Description:

The Grantham Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for effective maintenance, preventative maintenance planning and scheduling, delegating, coordinating and decision making to attain desirable production results, as well as the oversite of all maintenance items of the Grantham NH Sawmill & Yard. Other responsibilities include sustaining cost-effective ways to control labor and supply cost surrounding maintenance items. Additionally, maintaining an efficient system for completing PM work orders in a timely manner, maintaining professionalism, motivating team members- to increase productivity and performance- and monitoring maintenance procedures to ensure compliance and efficiency in all areas are meeting or exceeding company standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Communicating with the purchaser and Mill Manager to further support cost effective ways to manage purchasing and inventory control throughout the facilities
  • Initiate purchasing of all consumable parts (with PM Parts Purchaser)
  • Working with the PM Parts Purchaser to build a Preventive Maintenance program for each area that is easily maintained
    • Develop and follow the PM program as outlined by the Mill Manager
    • Assign and perform Electrical and mechanical PMs (Coordinated with necessary vendors with the assistance of the PM Parts Purchaser)
    • Complete/Close and document PM work orders as required
  • Maintaining
    • Sawmill Machinery
    • Waste Systems and dust collection systems
    • All outside yard equipment
    • Compressor PM and Service
    • Dry Kilns – Springfield Location
    • Building Needs
  • Enforce LOTO and Hot Work policies and departmental training
  • Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of procedural manuals, blueprints, and diagrams including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic
  • Troubleshoot up to 480 Volt equipment, including wiring 3 Phase motors and VFDs
  • Safely and effectively troubleshoot and repair electrical breakdowns
  • Troubleshoot up to 480 Volt equipment, including wiring 3 Phase motors and VFDs
  • Termination of wiring and associated components
  • Interpreting and improving automated system’s performance parameters, at macro/micro level
  • Installation of Electrical, Mechanical and Electronic devices
  • Repair/replace controls and sensors
  • Perform scheduled and assigned work including PM inspections, repairs, monitoring routes, troubleshooting, replacement, and programming of electrical equipment and controls
  • Some mechanical work as required
  • Assemble and install equipment using hand and power tools
  • Trouble shoot and replace / repair defective parts
  • Adjust clearances and align parts
  • Problem Solving – trend and identify repeat causes of lost production time and develop solutions.
  • Analyze information and evaluate to choose the best solution to solve problem
  • Travel if needed
  • Work a minimum of 20% OFF production hours each week (when the facilities are not running)
  • Seek Support from Human Resources, Safety, Training and/or any other organizational needs.
  • All other duties as assigned

Safety

  • Enforcing Policies and procedures including:
    1. Standard safety compliance items: PPE, LOTO, Hot work permits, Forklift safety, Fall Protection, Etc.
    2. Accident investigation/Return to work agreement
    3. Enforcement of violations

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Industrial electrical experience up to 480 volts, electrical controls, and instrumentation.
  • Practical experience with Variable Frequency Drives (VFD) and Pneumatics.
  • Electrical Experience preferably in a production or industrial environment
  • Ability to perform various electrical and mechanical tasks according to blueprints, schematics and/or technical drawings
  • Strong background in a production setting troubleshooting and repairing electrical and mechanical components preferred.
  • Able to work well with minimal supervision
  • Ability to Prioritize tasks and follow specified procedures
  • Proficient with Microsoft windows (Word, Excel & Outlook)
  • Preferable experience with CMMS systems to monitor inventory, work orders & PMs
  • Knowledge of PLC Controls is preferred
