POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Think Tank is seeking a talented Web Developer. This role focuses on developing, maintaining, and enhancing web content to communicate the agency's work to diverse stakeholders, while also supporting outreach initiatives that promote NOAA Fisheries' mission.
The successful candidate will ensure that online content is accurate, visually appealing, accessible, and aligned with NOAA and Department of Commerce web standards. This position will collaborate with scientists, policy experts, and communications staff to create compelling web features, manage digital resources, and support public outreach events.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Maintain content dashboards to track updates, revisions, and new postings.

Collaborate with organizational units to audit, select, and prioritize content for web migration.

Reformat, reorganize, and rewrite existing content in accordance with NOAA Fisheries business rules.

Serve as a content author and administrator in the NOAA Fisheries Content Management System (Drupal).

Provide quality assurance for web content, ensuring compliance with NOAA standards and Section 508 accessibility requirements.

Respond to staff inquiries and provide help desk support and training for creating 508-compliant documents, graphics, and presentations.

Convert existing noncompliant content into 508-compliant formats, including documents, graphics, video, audio, and repository submissions.

Support the IT Change Control Board in developing and reviewing 508 compliance requirements for in-house applications.

Deliver basic training for developers on accessibility standards and maintain a list of recommended tools, applications, and test suites.

Review 508 compliance for new applications until IT staff are fully trained.

Submit monthly progress reports documenting accomplishments, challenges, recommendations, and action items.
REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field with 7+ years' experience, or 10+ years of directly relevant experience.

Drupal experience required - including administering content in a Drupal-based CMS.

Experience with workflow dashboards for tracking content migration.

Strong ability to reformat, reorganize, and rewrite web content for new platforms.

Comprehensive knowledge of Section 508 accessibility standards for documents, web pages, audio, video, and scientific content.

Demonstrated success bringing complex technical/scientific documents into accessibility compliance.

Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Adobe file formats.

Experience in quality assurance review of web content for institutional and 508 compliance.

Proven ability to train others in developing 508-compliant documents, graphics, and presentations.

Strong communication skills and ability to work with staff unfamiliar with accessibility and compliance standards.

Experience working collaboratively with IT and communications teams to implement migration and compliance processes.
