Our client, a successful mid-sized law firm in Boston, is seeking a Legal Assistant to join their team in the Family Law department. In this role, you will play a key part in assisting with administrative tasks for multiple attorneys within the family law department in cases including divorce, custody, child support, alimony, adoption, and domestic violence matters.
Location: Boston, MA
Salary: $65,000 - $75,000 (DOE) + great benefits
Role: Legal Assistant - Family Law
Schedule: First few months in person, then hybrid (3 days in, 2 days remote)
Responsibilities:
- Manage and coordinate court filings through electronic filing systems.
- Maintain and organize attorneys’ schedules, including appointments, deadlines, and court dates.
- Processing incoming and outgoing mail.
- Managing client payments and invoices, ensuring payment from clients on monthly invoices
- Draft and send precise and well-crafted email correspondence to clients and legal contacts.
- Record and track attorney time entries for billing purposes.
- Oversee case management processes to ensure accurate documentation and timely updates.
- Communicate regularly with clients, court staff, couriers and constables to address inquiries and provide updates.
- Process vendor invoices and ensure accurate record-keeping.
- Assist with administrative tasks to support the smooth operation of the family law team.
- Collaborate with attorneys to prepare legal documents and case materials.
Requirements:
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a legal assistant (family law experience not required but it is preferred).
- Knowledge of Aderant, Microsoft Office, and iManage preferred
- Attention to detail
- Strong organizational skills
- Empathetic and professional demeanor when working with clients in emotional or sensitive situations
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
