The Technology Specialist will provide hands-on coordination and maintenance for all information systems, software, and devices to support the students and staff at Crossroads School. The position plays a key role in executing an organization-wide technology plan, identifying and planning for the educational needs of the students, and giving staff the necessary technology tools to them to perform their daily functions.
General Responsibilities:
- Provide assistance in the resolution of technical support issues regarding computers, iPads, and applications.
- Maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot physical and virtual server infrastructures.
- Maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot Windows/Apple server environment.
- Maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot network-based services: File and Print services, Email “Office 365,” Active Directory, DHCP/DNS/WINS.
- Maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot student iPad management program and app deployments.
- Configure, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot Windows, Apple and IOS software deployments.
- Provide and maintain documentation of backup processes and retention periods.
- Provide technology support for students and staff.
- Provide and test backup and disaster recovery processes and procedures.
- Work with vendors in server research, development and implementation.
- Prepare and maintain written documentation of server and application environments.
- Work with vendors in the process of troubleshooting escalated incidents.
- Participate in in-service and workshop trainings and attend required meetings.
- Maintain an inventory log of Crossroads’ IT equipment.
- Distribute, track, and order IT equipment.
- Manage digital school calendar, maintain proper permissions, modify as needed.
- Create and distribute new username/passwords for all employees for access to computer system.
- Orient new staff to IT systems as needed
- Organize and modify server permissions across Crossroads as needed.
- Manage projector, audio/video, set up for Crossroads events.
- Other duties as assigned by the IS Manager and Director of Program Services/Admissions.
- Manage Smartboard use in Classrooms
- Manage Student Curriculum Apps, Licenses and Renewals
Security:
- Configure the network to maintain private and confidential information.
- Configure the network to prevent unwanted / unauthorized access.
- Configure the network to protect against malicious intrusions.
- Configure the network for document recovery.
Technical Knowledge Requirements:
- LAN and WAN topologies and architecture.
- Cloud based networking and Management Systems.
- MAC and PC operating systems
- VMware ESX and Windows Hyper-V
- Windows Active Directory and Apple Open Directory integration.
- IOS application deployments thru third party MDM solutions.
- Microsoft server, Microsoft Active Directory and Microsoft Office 365 email systems.
- Monitoring and tuning systems to achieve optimum performance levels.
- Configuring and maintaining VMware and virtual environments.
- Configuring and running Microsoft DHCP and DNS services.
- Computer (Apple & Dell ), Server (Dell) and Networking (Meraki) hardware.
- PC/LAN application software including word processing, spreadsheets and E-Mail.
Education, Experience & Necessary Skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree or Computer Certifications (Microsoft, CompTIA, Apple, Cisco) preferred
- 2+ years’ experience providing information technology services.
- Strong written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to present information effectively and respond to questions relating to IT.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team.
- Strong work ethic in a mission-based organization.
- Strong working knowledge of managing databases to include security, data safety and integrity, disaster recovery, and development of bulk data import/export procedures.
- Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and lay terms.
- Knowledge of database programming preferred.
