Role Overview:

The Service Porter role requires an organized person with the ability to positively and effectively communicate with customers. Service Porters are responsible for greeting customers, tagging vehicles, parking service cars and the organization of the service parking area and service loaner fleet. This individual should be timely, organized, and have a positive attitude.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Move and park service vehicles.
  • Correctly tag service vehicles to ensure the correct vehicle is being tagged and that duplicate tags are avoided.
  • Greet customers in a positive and professional manner as they approach the service drive area.
  • Valet vehicles for customers as necessary.
  • Any management requests such as cleaning vehicles or snow removal.
  • Drive vehicles to and from the service lane(s), service stalls, and parking lot as needed.
  • Ensure service vehicles are organized and parked in designated service vehicle areas.
  • Make key tags for service vehicles.
  • Ensure floor coverings are properly installed in vehicles before service repair takes place.
  • General upkeep of service drive, including sweeping, leaf-blowing, salting, changing the trash, replenishing customer water bottles, replacing water cooler jugs, etc.
  • Provide superior customer service and achieve the highest degree of customer satisfaction with the goal of earning repeat business.
  • Contribute to the overall success of the motor group by working with all customers, teams, and departments collaboratively and professionally with a positive attitude.
  • Be at work on time or early (no exceptions).
  • Adhere to Patrick Motor Group dress code, including long pants (no jeans, sweatpants, shorts or pajamas), and branded shirt/jacket.
  • Be team-oriented with a desire to achieve both individual and collective goals.
  • All other duties assigned by management.


Experience Requirements:

  • Communication skills must be at a basic level.
  • Decision-making ability and organization are required.
  • Employee must be able to drive a manual transmission vehicle.
  • Employee must have attention to detail.
  • Employee must be able to read, write, understand and speak English.

Training and Certifications required (to be started upon hire):

  • Employee must have a valid U.S. Driver’s License.
  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
  • Manufacturers Certification for the job described.
  • Engage with PMG training platform(s) (I.e. Leadership training, Microsoft 365, etc.)
  • Work with any training the dealer group is currently utilizing.

Physical Requirements:

Employee must be able to sit/stand for long periods of time. Use their hands to handle, control or feel objects, tools, or controls. Repeat the same movements for over 8 hours a day. Occasionally need to lift items up to 30 lbs. Occasional bending, walking, and mobility will be necessary. Employee must be able to get in and out of vehicles and shovel/ assist with snow removal when necessary. Ability to stand, walk, climb, stoop/bend, and reach is required. Employee must be able to speak clearly for repetitiously for over 8 hours a day.
