Job Title: Production Foreman / Leadman
Location: Metfab Engineering, Inc. in North Attleborough, MA
Schedule: Full-Time | On-site

Position Overview: We are seeking aproduction foreman / leadman to join our team in a full-time, on-site capacity. The foreman is responsible for overseeing daily operations on the production floor, ensuring quality, safety, and efficiency across all fabrication activities. This role requires strong technical knowledge in metal fabrication, including welding and machining, as well as the ability to interpret mechanical drawings and apply relevant industry codes.

The leadman will coordinate closely with departmental leads, review incoming orders before release to production, and ensure that all manufacturing personnel have the information and support needed to execute tasks accurately and safely. Responsibilities include scheduling production to meet delivery timelines, maintaining product quality to customer specifications, and supporting performance management through appraisals and salary recommendations. The role may also involve scheduling machine maintenance and evaluating job audits to drive continuous improvement and production optimization. Additional duties may be assigned as needed to support overall manufacturing operations.

Core Responsibilities Include:

  • Must have strong experience in metal fabrication including welding and machining.
  • Must be able to read mechanical drawings.
  • Familiarity with relevant codes: AWS D1.1, D1.6, B2.1, A2.4, ASME Section IX, AGS-G006
  • To supervise and coordinate with departmental leadspersons.
  • Review of new orders prior to release into production
  • To ensure manufacturing personnel personal safety
  • May be responsible for scheduling machine maintenance
  • Coordinate manufacturing personnel performance appraisal and recommend salary changes.
  • Responsible for scheduling work on production floor to ensure on-time deliveries.
  • Responsible for product quality and to ensure products are manufactured to customer's specifications and requirements
  • May be required to review job audits and make changes to optimize production efficiency.
  • To ensure proper information is provided to personnel in manufacturing.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • 5-7 years experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience in the metal fabrication industry
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings required
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) required

Physical and Mental Requirements

  • Physical Requirement:Balancing; climbing; bending; stooping; crawling; some light, moderate, heavy lifting and carrying; must have fine motor skills; be able to grasp small items; kneeling; pushing; reaching above shoulder; pulling hand over hand; ability to do a repetitive motion; and the ability to sit, stand and walk for most of the day. Mobility requirement enough to move around the production area safely and various types of customer locations
  • Visual Requirement:Must be able to visually read documents, read from a computer screen, see system details
  • Hearing Requirement:Must be able to hear and speak on the phone and in person to convey information. Must be able to identify hazard sounds and be aware of the environment on the production floor/customer sites for safety
  • Mental Requirement:Comprehension, Organization, Reasoning, Decision Making, Communication, and Mathematics
