Overview
Shriners Children's Boston is seeking candidates for our Nurse Manager, Operating Room opportunity. Under the direction of the Director of Patient Care Services, the Nurse Manager plans, organizes, coordinates and directs the total nursing activities of Surgical Services, which includes the three (3) room Surgical suite, four (4) bed PACU, Central Sterile and Reprocessing Department and the Tissue Dispensing Service on a 24 hours basis. In addition, the Nurse Manager oversees the admission / surgical schedule. Hours: This full-time day shift opening include on-call requiremetns.
Responsibilities
- Develops and implements standards of care, policies, and procedures for the unit, and continuously evaluates the quality of patient care in relation to these guidelines.
- Assesses the educational needs of the unit. Develops unit goals with staff and recommends educational programs.
- Develops unit goals consistent with the mission, vision and nursing department’s philosophy.
- Prepares budget for unit in collaboration with the Director of Patient Care Service and the Materials Manager and Director of Fiscal Affairs.
- Critically analyzes clinical situations with staff that reflects the integration of nursing knowledge with clinical expertise.
- Demonstrates and facilitates the provision of care that meets the developmental needs of patients including: infants, toddlers, preschoolers, school age and adolescent children.
- Establishes and maintains a collaborative relationship with all members of the Interdisciplinary Team and Family Care Coordination, ensuring continuity of care through maintaining effective communication with colleagues.

Qualifications
Required:
BSN
RN license in state of practice
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
3 years of progressive leadership / management development experience
Preferred:
MSN
5 years of perioperative care experience
