Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) (LNA)
Shift: 2nd Shift (2:00 PM – 10:00 PM)
Meal Break: 30 minutes
Contract Duration: 14 Weeks
Guaranteed Hours: 37 hours per week

Position Summary
Under the direction of the Center Nurse Executive/Infection Preventionist/Designee, the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides efficient and compassionate nursing care, contributing to positive clinical outcomes and patient satisfaction. The CNA performs patient care activities and essential non-professional services to ensure the comfort and safety of patients, while working within the standards of their certification. In select cases and states, CNAs may also be responsible for specimen collection for point-of-care (POC) testing.
Key Responsibilities

Provide direct patient care in accordance with safety and comfort standards, including:
-
Assisting with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)
-
Obtaining and recording vital signs and weights
-
Supporting ambulation, transfers, and proper positioning
-
Assisting physicians and nurses with treatments and procedures
-

Make occupied and unoccupied beds and maintain patient areas
-
Transport and accompany patients as needed for appointments or therapy
-
Participate in patient care planning and follow individualized care plans
-
Feed and assist patients with meals; record intake and output
-
Maintain infection control and safety practices at all times
-
Report patient condition changes or family concerns promptly to nursing staff
-
Clean and organize patient care areas, equipment, and linen rooms
-
Support postmortem care and patient discharge processes
-
Participate in orientation and training of new CNAs
-
Work collaboratively across departments to ensure patient-centered care
-
Adhere to confidentiality, HIPAA regulations, and company policies
Compliance Responsibilities
-
Follow all company, federal, and state legal requirements and policies
-
Participate in required training, audits, and compliance programs
-
Promptly report any compliance concerns or incidents
-
Support quality assurance and process improvement initiatives
Educational & Certification Requirements
-
Successful completion of a state-approved CNA program
-
High school diploma or GED preferred
-
Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
-
Verification of TST (Tuberculin Skin Test) as required by state law
-
Must complete a minimum of 12 hours of annual continuing education
-
Basic computer knowledge or willingness to learn
Specimen Collection (where permitted by state law)
-
Collect nasal specimens for point-of-care testing following infection control and manufacturer guidelines
-
Properly label and document specimens
-
Use PPE appropriately, including respirator (N95/KN95), gown, gloves, and eye protection
-
Report equipment malfunctions or incidents during specimen collection
-
Successfully complete POC specimen collection and testing competency training
Selection Criteria / Qualification Considerations
Candidate must meet at least one of the following:
-
Experience as a Lab Technician
-
Currently enrolled in Nursing School
-
Experience conducting Infection Control rounds
-
Recommendation from a licensed nurse or CNA lead
-
Experience as a Med Tech or Med Aide (within scope of practice)
-
Must be fit-tested and able to wear N95/KN95 respirator
Job Skills

Knowledge of basic patient care procedures and infection control
-
Understanding of medical asepsis and standard precautions
-
Flexibility to work rotating shifts and units as needed
-
Strong teamwork and communication skills in a patient-centered environment
