Industrial Maintenance Mechanic
Ballardvale, MA
+$1000 Sign-On Bonus
$25.00 to $35.00 per hour depending on experience
The Maintenance Mechanic will troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical issues for commercial manufacturing equipment. This position requires the ability to juggle multiple tasks and respond to breakdowns immediately while maintaining a professional demeanor. The maintenance mechanic is also assigned Facility related tasks as needed.
Essential Duties of the Manufacturing Maintenance Mechanic include but are not limited to:
- Attend to emergency and unscheduled repairs on manufacturing and production equipment.
- Understand and apply laws relating to electrical processes and plumbing systems.
- Fully understand the relationship between pneumatics, hydraulics, bearings, chains, sprockets, belt installation
- Mechanical ability, and other skills as they relate to bakery machinery and facility repair.
- Communicate with other department Team Leads and Supervisors in order to schedule work at the most cost-effective times.
- Assist in Preventive Maintenance projects
- Minimize downtime in order to accomplish scheduled production goals by completing unscheduled repairs in a timely manner.
- Fully understand SQF (Safe Quality Food) guidelines as they relate to the Maintenance Department
- Understand the product line and necessary machinery in order to forecast equipment needs, as it relates to completing production and machinery downtime and set-up.
- Have an understanding of PLC, and control systems troubleshooting.
- Work within OSHA guidelines; such as, LOTO, E-Stops, and safety guarding.
- Work in a safe manner and recognize and help correct unsafe conditions.
- Train Production Operators in a safe and proper way to maintain and break down production equipment.
- Work with others, receive coaching, and give feedback as needed.
- Treat others with respect.
- Support management in other related duties, as required.
- Report any unsafe conditions to management as needed.
- Must be proactive and able to address problems quickly
Experience/ Education Required of the Manufacturing Maintenance Mechanic
- At least 2 years’ experience troubleshooting electromechanical issues
- Ability to multitask several issues while prioritizing the most critical
- Ability to work different shifts as needed
Trade School diploma or equivalent training. Electrical, mechanical, welding, pneumatics and hydraulics exposure. Two years of experience with bakery equipment and troubleshooting, in addition to prior experience leading a crew, is preferred.
Special Skills Required of the Maintenance Mechanic
- Ability to trace wires
- Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical failures
- Understand blueprints and electrical schematics.
- Familiarity with stainless steel TIG welding
Additional Skills (Preferred but not required)
- 2nd Fireman Boiler Operator License
- Certificate in PID process and troubleshooting experience
- Machinist background for fabricating parts in an emergency
Special Skills Required
