We’re partnering with a fantastic school district in Norfolk County, MA searching for a part-time Teacher of the Visually Impaired starting in November 2025.


In this role, you willprovide individualized instruction and adaptive learning strategies to support the academic, functional, and social-emotional growth of students with visual impairments. You will collaborate with teachers, staff, and families to create accessible learning experiences and promote student independence in all aspects of school life.


Position Details:

  • Location: In-person, Norfolk County, MA (no hybrid or remote options)
  • Expected start date: November 2025
  • Expected end date: June 2026
  • Caseload: Approximately 4 students
  • Schedule: Monday-Friday, part-time school schedule


Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized instructional lessons aligned with students’ IEP goals, focusing on both academic and functional skills for students with visual impairments.
  • Adapt and modify curriculum materials, including print and digital content, to ensure accessibility through Braille, large print, tactile graphics, and assistive technology.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and support staff to integrate accommodations and modifications that support inclusive learning.
  • Provide direct instruction in Braille literacy, assistive technology, orientation and mobility skills, and other specialized techniques tailored to students’ needs.
  • Monitor student progress through data collection, assessments, and regular communication with families, maintaining accurate documentation in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Foster student independence, self-advocacy, and academic success by creating a supportive, accessible, and engaging learning environment.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Visually Impaired Education and/or Orientation and Mobility (O&M), Education, or a related field
  • Teacher of the Visually Impaired licensure from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE)
  • Experience working with visually impaired students in an academic setting
