Job Summary:
Under the ESOL/Adult Education Division, the Coordinator assists individuals in learning basic education skills, including English, needed for day-to-day living, increasing employment opportunities, and attaining financial stability.
The ESOL/Adult Education Coordinator is an experienced, well-organized ESOL and adult education instructor. Experience must include both in-person and online teaching familiarity.
Essential Functions/Key Responsibilities:

Plan, organize, and provide instruction in English that meets Massachusetts state and federal standards (MA ELPS) in the GLAC’s adult learning program.

Develop and deliver lesson plans that utilize various appropriate teaching techniques and strategies to address the varied learning styles.

Provide oversight, mentorship, and support to teachers within the program.

Monitor and evaluate teacher performance through classroom observations and regular feedback.

Assist teachers in developing lesson plans and instructional strategies to align with program goals and standards.

Organize and lead teacher training sessions and professional development opportunities.

Facilitate collaboration among teaching staff to share best practices and address challenges.

Address any classroom or instructional issues, offering guidance and solutions.

Ensure all teaching staff's compliance with program standards and instructional policies.

Addresses all aspects of communication through appropriate instruction that develops each student’s ability to read, write, speak, and listen in the appropriate content area.

Maintain complete and accurate records of student progress and evidence of growth and progress.

Supervise students’ participation in the program and refer them to appropriate resources.

Adapt program curriculum to provide individual, small group, and/or remedial instruction to meet the needs of individual students.

Establish and maintain standards of student behavior required to run an orderly and productive classroom environment.

Utilize a variety of instructional techniques and strategies to accommodate the different abilities and interests of students.

Optimize learning time to enhance student success and supervise necessary out-of-class activities.

Participate in periodic staff meetings and training.

Complete additional tasks assigned by the Divisional Director.
Skills & Qualifications:

Associate’s degree with a minimum of three years of experience teaching adults and classroom management; Bachelor’s degree preferred with a minimum of one year of experience

Experience in online classroom teaching and management

Excellent organizational and communication skills

Bilingual in English and Spanish

ESOL/Adult Education Program Manager is an experienced, well-organized ESOL and adult learning instructor.

Experience must include both in-person and online teaching familiarity.

The ability to incorporate current technology into the classroom environment for both in-person and online teaching
-
TESOL certification preferred

Ability to work effectively with and meet the needs of people from a wide range of backgrounds, identities, cultures, nationalities, and languages that make up the rich complexity of GLCAC, consumers, including its employees, partners in the community, and clientele.
