Job Description: Phlebotomist (Contract Position)
Overview:
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Phlebotomist to provide high-quality support in a healthcare setting. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three (3) years of recent Phlebotomy experience and current certifications in BLS and ACLS. This position requires flexibility, professionalism, and a strong commitment to patient-centered care.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Experience: At least three (3) years of recent Phlebotomy experience.
- Certifications: Current BLS and ACLS certification required.
- Language Skills: Must be proficient in spoken and written English.
- Conflict Disclosure: Candidates must disclose any known or potential schedule conflicts during the contract period (e.g., military leave, extended vacation, or anticipated sick leave).
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform patient phlebotomy across various settings including:
- Inpatient units
- Outpatient clinics
- Emergency Department (ED)
- STAT, ASAP, and timed draws
- Perform sample processing and preparation for send-outs.
- Ensure positive patient identification before collection and before testing or aliquoting.
- Safeguard all electronic and paper-based patient information in compliance with privacy standards.
- Identify, document, and resolve any collection or processing issues.
- Maintain professional conduct and ensure high-quality patient interactions to minimize complaints.
- May be assigned to work in multiple laboratory areas based on service needs.
Technical Requirements:
Contracted personnel must demonstrate:
- Technical proficiency in all required skills and tasks.
- Ability to provide documentation verifying competency, certification, and/or licensure when requested by the Contracting Officer (CO) or Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR).
Work Schedule:
Available shifts may include, but are not limited to:
- 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
- 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM
- 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
- 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
- 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Shifts may vary to meet the operational needs of the laboratory. Personnel may also be required to work weekends, holidays, and overtime. However, on-call or standby duties are not required.
