VulcanForms Inc. seeks a Machine Technician for our Devens, Massachusetts location.
Job Purpose
VulcanForms Inc. is seeking aMachineTechnician to help support precision machine metrology and qualification efforts in their Machine Build Team inDevens, MA. VulcanForms Inc. is a manufacturer of complex, high value engineered components in serial production at the world's most powerful additive foundry.
This position is a unique opportunity to build, support, and commission industrial-scale metal additive manufacturing (AM) machines.
Responsibilities include system integration, setup, startup, debugging, and industrial automated equipment support. This job operates in a manufacturing shop floor environment. In this capacity, employees may be exposed to moving mechanical parts and loud environments. Working with and around hazardous materials and systems, including metal powder, inert gas environments, and laser systems, will require wearing the necessary PPE and adhering to company safety protocols.
Key Accountabilities
- Your main objective will be to build, test, and commission machine equipment (i.e., assist in machine build efforts, measure system accuracy, making mechanical adjustments to bring systems into specification).
- Your tasks will include setup, commissioning, and maintenance of electromechanical subsystems, including mechanical adjustments and alignments, teaching sensors, understanding, and verifying system operation.
- You will work with various compressed gas, water, metal powder, and industrial automation systems.
- You will work alongside a team of mechanical and controls engineers and machine technicians in a fast-paced startup environment.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent, with some college or technical school coursework
- Minimum of 5 years of job-related experience, preferably in a field service or machine-building department, or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
- Experience building, setting up, maintaining, or operating electromechanical systems of comparable technology, scale, and complexity (automated equipment or machine tools, electrical, pneumatic, gas flow, powder handling, or chiller systems)
Preferred
- Experience with working with high precision machine tools or equipment
- Experience using laser tracker measurement tools to verify machine accuracy or performance.
- An associate or bachelor's degree in an engineering or related technical field from an accredited institution preferred
- Ability to read/understand mechanical drawings and schematics, including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) practices
- High precision, close tolerance proficiency
- Ability to use all hand tools
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills in mechanical systems
- Proficient in metric measurement systems
