The Parts Counter Person at White River Subaru plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient operation of the parts department within a retail automotive environment. This position is responsible for accurately identifying, locating, and distributing automotive parts to customers and service technicians, thereby supporting vehicle maintenance and repair activities. The role requires strong customer service skills to assist walk-in and phone-in customers with their parts needs, providing expert advice and product knowledge. Additionally, the Parts Counter Person manages inventory control, processes orders, and maintains accurate records to ensure parts availability and minimize downtime. Ultimately, this position contributes to customer satisfaction and the overall success of the dealership by facilitating timely and accurate parts transactions.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in automotive parts sales or inventory management preferred.
- Basic computer skills, including familiarity with inventory management software.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a Subaru dealership or automotive retail environment.
- Knowledge of automotive parts and terminology.
- Familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) systems and electronic parts catalogs.
- Ability to lift and move automotive parts weighing up to 50 pounds safely.
- Certification in automotive parts or related fields.
Responsibilities:
- Greet and assist customers in person and over the phone, identifying their parts needs and providing expert guidance.
- Locate, retrieve, and distribute automotive parts from inventory to customers and service technicians efficiently and accurately.
- Process parts orders, returns, and exchanges using dealership inventory management systems and ensure proper documentation.
- Maintain organized and accurate inventory records, conduct regular stock counts, and report discrepancies to management.
- Collaborate with service and sales departments to ensure parts availability aligns with repair schedules and customer demands.
- Handle cash and credit transactions securely and follow dealership policies for billing and invoicing.
- Stay updated on new automotive parts, tools, and technologies to provide informed recommendations to customers.
