Reporting to the SVP of Residential Lending, responsible for the oversight of the Credit Union's home equity lending lifecycle, from application to closing, ensuring that home equity loans are processed, underwritten, and closed in compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Oversees the underwriting staff, including the recruitment, onboarding, and professional growth of the team, fostering a high-performing team culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Drives team success through structured performance management, including annual reviews, goal setting, and consistent one-on-one coaching and team development meetings.
- Proactively assess team capabilities, identifying skills gaps, and implements targeted training and professional development programs to support staff advancement and skills enhancement.
- Serves as the subject matter expert on home equity loan products, policies, procedures, and underwriting guidelines, providing guidance and training to internal teams.
- Oversees the full home equity loan pipeline-processing, underwriting, and closing-ensuring timely execution of all loan origination system milestones and adherence to service-level expectations.
- Approves, declines, counteroffers, or suspends loan applications based on sound lending judgment and in alignment with credit union policies, regulatory standards, and risk tolerance.
- Ensures all home equity loans comply with federal, state, and credit union regulatory requirements; delivering training as needed to maintain team-wide compliance awareness.
Requirements:
- Equivalent to high school diploma.
- Minimum 7+ years of residential mortgage loan underwriting experience.
- 3+ years of management experience.
- Ability to perform work with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Encompass LOS experience preferred.
