Master’s degree in School Counseling, Counseling or a related field, active School Counselor license and 1+ years School Counselor experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
An educational institution is seeking a dedicated Adjustment Counselor to support students in grades K-12. This contract position is available for the current school year and is based onsite in Chicopee, MA. The role focuses on providing counseling services to address students' emotional, behavioral, and social challenges to foster a positive and productive learning environment.
Responsibilities include:
- Conducting individual and group counseling sessions with students to promote social and emotional development
- Collaborating with teachers, administrators, and families to develop and implement effective behavioral strategies
- Gathering prehensive data to inform interventions and track student progress
- Supporting crisis intervention and conflict resolution efforts as needed
- Participating in multidisciplinary team meetings and contributing to the development of individualized education plans (IEPs) when applicable
- Assisting with behavioral assessments and adjustments to ensure student success
Desired qualifications and experience:
- Proven experience as a school counselor or adjustment counselor working with K-12 students
- Strong understanding of child and adolescent development and behavioral management techniques
- Ability to gather, analyze, and utilize data to guide counseling interventions
- Excellent munication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with students, staff, and families
- Flexibility to provide onsite support and adapt in response to changes such as schedule shifts or staff coverage
- Relevant counseling certification or licensure as required by state regulations
