About the Role
Were seeking a seasoned Manager of Internal Data Platform to lead the development of our next-generation data infrastructure. This is a strategic, hands-on leadership role that blends architecture, engineering, and team management. Youll guide a cross-functional Agile team in building scalable, secure, and efficient tooling to empower data engineering and analytics across the organization.
What You Will Be Doing In This Role:
Leadership & Strategy
- Lead and mentor a team of engineers in building and maintaining our internal data platform.
- Collaborate with product owners, the CTO, and senior leadership to align platform capabilities with business goals.
- Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Architecture & Engineering
- Architect cloud-native solutions using AWS (e.g., Lambda, ECS, S3, Glue).
- Design scalable data pipelines and transformation workflows using Snowflake and modern data tools.
- Define and enforce architectural standards including microservices, APIs, and event-driven systems.
Platform Enablement
- Build internal tooling to accelerate data engineering workflows.
- Implement DevOps best practices: CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, container orchestration, and observability.
- Ensure platform reliability, security, and performance across environments.
Collaboration & Execution
- Partner with engineering teams to modernize legacy applications and optimize cloud-native performance.
- Work with stakeholders to ensure data governance, quality, and lineage standards.
- Drive adoption of new technologies and platforms to meet evolving business needs.
Strategic Data Leadership
- Define and execute data strategy in partnership with data operations, governance, analytics, and security teams.
- Build and maintain robust data architecture and models for integration, warehousing, and access.
- Manage automation and operationalization of secure, scalable data solutions.
What You Bring To The Table:
- 15+ years in software or data engineering, including 5+ years in a management role.
- Proven experience architecting solutions in AWS and Snowflake.
- Strong grasp of modern data architecture, ELT/ETL pipelines, and analytics enablement.
- Hands-on experience with DevOps tools (Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes, GitHub Actions).
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience leading Agile teams and participating in Scrum ceremonies.
Other Nice to Have Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field
- Experience with Python/PySpark, data warehousing, data lakes, and real-time/batch processing.
- Familiarity with event-driven architecture, application modernization, and cloud-native strategies.
- Knowledge of data governance, metadata management, MDM, and data quality frameworks.
- Exposure to tools and platforms such as GitLab, JavaScript, Azure, AWS, and data cataloging tools.
