The Trauma-Informed Intervention Specialist (TIIS) in LUK’s Residential Services works with youth and staff to ensure that youth develop skills to regulate their emotions and staff deliver trauma-informed interventions. This position also helps newly placed youth transition to the residential setting. The TIIS gets to know each youth, including their triggers and behaviors, and supports each youth to create and use an individual emotional regulation plan. Interventions will be offered in individual and group formats.
This position will work with other staff members and the youth’s multidisciplinary team. They will model and teach effective responses, and collaborate on assessments, treatment planning, progress reviews, and discharge planning.
This position is expected to have or develop expertise in the Attachment, Regulation, and Competency (ARC) trauma treatment model and its application in a residential setting. The successful candidate will demonstrate a sound understanding of the impact of separation on a youth’s emotional, developmental, and behavioral well-being as well as trauma reactive behaviors in youth. The qualified candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or closely related field and at least one year of experience working with youth. Experience working in a residential setting is preferred. Excellent communication and computer skills required. Valid driver’s license, reliable and safe transportation required.
This is a full-time position located in North Central Massachusetts. Work will take place within the therapeutic milieu and will include community-based travel. Work schedule must accommodate the needs of the youth/family. Bilingual/bicultural candidates are encouraged to apply.

Requirements:
Purpose:
The Trauma-Informed Intervention Specialist helps newly placed youth transition to the residential setting using a trauma-informed lens. This position also develops a thorough understanding of each youth in placement with the goal of helping them regulate their emotions while helping staff deliver trauma-informed interventions.
Responsibilities Include:
- Develop a thorough understanding of the ARC trauma treatment model and its use in the residential milieu
- Facilitate the implementation of ARC in the residential setting
- Facilitate the smooth transition for youth new to the residential setting
- Develop an understanding of the triggers and behaviors of each youth in the program, specifically how the behavior is fulfilling a need or trauma response
- Provide effective trauma-informed responses to each youth with the intent of creating a sense of safety through relationship
- Assist youth in creating and using individual emotion regulation plans
- Deliver group and individual interventions with youth
- Model responses for and teach effective responses to staff
- Collaborate with other members of the multidisciplinary team on assessments, treatment planning, progress reviews, and discharge planning as needed
- Attend and participate in weekly scheduled supervision, staff meetings, leadership meetings, and required trainings
- Participate in the Division’s on-call system
- Gain an understanding and commitment to LUK’s Mission, Vision, and Values and provide congruent services
Knowledge and Experience Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree Human Services or closely related field
- 1 year of experience working with youth required
- Experience working in a residential setting preferred
- Demonstrate or develop expertise in the ARC trauma treatment model

Job Location:

Salary Range and Benefits:
Pay Range: 12. Salary Range: $41,600 – $51,500. Salary ranges within each pay grade are based on qualifications, skills, and experience.
