An established and growing civil engineering consultancy is seeking a Senior Transportation Project Manager to help lead and expand its Worcester, MA office. This strategic hire will work closely with the office lead to scale the transportation practice, manage project delivery, and mentor an established engineering team. The Role
As Senior Project Manager, you’ll take charge of transportation design projects from concept through completion. Reporting to the office lead, you’ll manage a team of engineers and play a key role in business development, client engagement, and project delivery. Success in this role looks like growing the local team, delivering high-quality infrastructure solutions, and deepening client relationships across public and private sectors.
Responsibilities

Lead and manage a team of transportation engineers across all phases of project lifecycle

Oversee delivery of transportation and highway design projects, ensuring quality, budget, and schedule alignment

Serve as a key client contact for project delivery and business development activities

Mentor junior staff and foster technical growth across the team

Perform quality assurance/quality control reviews on plans, reports, and technical documentation

Manage contracts, budgets, invoicing, and resource allocation

Facilitate stakeholder meetings and represent the firm in public forums
Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline

Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) required

10–15+ years of experience in transportation/highway design

Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities

Proficiency with AASHTO and MassDOT design standards

Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

Motivated self-starter with strong time management and autonomy
