Job Goal
Under the supervision of a school administrator, the Spanish Teacher is responsible for delivering effective, high-quality, and rigorous instruction in Spanish language and culture. The goal is to ensure measurable growth in students’ language proficiency and cultural understanding. The teacher is also responsible for observing, evaluating, and supporting student progress in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in Spanish.

Middle School Spanish Teacher, Long-Term Substitute (2025–26 Opportunity)
Location: Boston, MA (Jamaica Plain Campus) (also convenient to Roxbury 02119, Roslindale 02131, Dorchester 02124, Mattapan 02126, and West Roxbury 02132)
Start Date: ASAP
Rate: $50–$55/hour

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

We are looking for a Spanish Teacher (Long-term Substitute) who can work full-time starting in mid-November to cover a staff leave. The term of employment will be approximately 14 weeks. There is the potential for continued employment to follow, but it is not guaranteed.

Working hours are Monday-Friday, 7am-2:45pm.

OVERVIEW OF ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Middle School Spanish Teacher position includes a number of essential responsibilities, including (but not limited to):

  • Teach four middle school Spanish classes per day;
  • Develop daily lessons aligned with the Spanish curriculum in collaboration with department colleagues and leadership team members;
  • Uphold high academic and behavioral expectations for students, and provide lots of support for getting students there

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for applicants who:

  • have at least two years of full-time experience as classroom or special education teacher, preferably in an urban education setting;
  • hold a valid and appropriate license issued by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, or obtain the licensure within a year of date of hire;
  • believe that all students can and will succeed;
  • have a desire to continually improve their practice as a teacher by taking and implementing feedback;
  • have a proven record of student success and achievement; and
  • demonstrate an ability to work well on a team, and a willingness to support others in doing their best work.
