Position: Assistant Track and Field (Throwing)

Department: Athletics

Location: Athletic and Convocation Center, Milton Academy Campus, Milton, MA

Hours: Part-time with the flexibility to work nights and weekends

FLSA: Exempt

Classification: Seasonal

Stipend: $3000

Summary of Position:

Milton Academy is in search of an Assistant Track and Field coach for the 2026 spring season. The track and field program competes in the Independent School League (ISL) and is a member of the New England Prep School Athletic Council (NEPSAC). The program has a tradition of excellence and has competed at the highest of levels throughout New England. The assistant coach will assist with the throwing competitions in events such as the shot put, javelin, and discus.

Milton Academy is in search of an Assistant Coach for Sailing for the 2024-25 spring season. The Sailing program competes in the Independent School League (ISL) and is a member of the New England Prep School Athletic Council (NEPSAC). The Sailing program has a tradition of excellence and has competed at the highest of levels. The coach will collaborate with the Director of Athletics on all aspects of the Sailing program.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in leading the Track and Field program and comply with the institution, NEPSAC, and ISL protocols.
  • Assist in designing and implementing practice plans under the direction of the head coach.
  • Assist in recruiting and retaining prospective students for the program.
  • Follow all safety practices and Academy policies as outlined in the school’s Student Handbook and Coaches Handbook, including the policy against hazing and bullying.
  • Traveling to and from home/away games.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervision Received:

Position reports to the Director of Athletics.

Competencies

Required:

  • Coaching and/or experience working with track and field athletes at the high school or college level in the throwing events.
  • Must demonstrate sportsmanship and role modeling behavior with athletes.
  • Must show cooperative behavior, calm, and have a composed demeanor.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Have a valid driver’s license.

Physical Abilities

Required:

  • Lifting (up to 10 pounds), bending, and climbing stairs.
  • Frequent talking, listening, walking, sitting, and standing.
  • Ability to perform multiple concurrent tasks and function in a fast-paced working environment.

Work Environment

  • The Athletics Department is a busy work environment in which there is a significant amount of personal interaction.
  • The Coach must be flexible, enthusiastic, hard working, and responsible.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • The Academy is non-smoking campus.
