We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to lead our facility maintenance operations and drive equipment reliability across our manufacturing plant. This role is essential to maintaining operational excellence through strategic maintenance planning, team leadership, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Details:

  • Location: This job is on site at our facility in Hinesburg, VT
  • Schedule: Monday - Friday 8am - 4:30pm
  • Compensation: Starting from $100,000

Job Summary:

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for building and directing comprehensive facility maintenance programs that maintain plant equipment and facilities, ensuring reliable and efficient operation. This hands-on leadership role combines technical expertise with strategic maintenance planning and team development in our food processing environment. You'll collaborate closely with Production and Quality Teams to ensure high levels of safety, quality, uptime, and efficiency. Managing a team of skilled technicians, you'll focus on preventative, autonomous, predictive, and emergency maintenance strategies while driving reliability improvements and continuous improvement initiatives to meet company safety, quality, and operational performance targets.


Responsibilities:

Team Leadership & Development

  • Manage and direct a team of maintenance technicians through coaching, performance reviews, and professional growth planning
  • Supervise contractors and technical specialists to ensure competent work on plant equipment and facilities
  • Lead training initiatives for personnel on reliability and production improvement practices

Food Safety & Quality Systems

  • Maintain responsibility for Food Safety and Quality Management Systems (QMS) compliance
  • Hold non-conforming product and equipment according to established protocols
  • Follow and enforce QMS standards, policies, and procedures throughout maintenance operations

Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting

  • Troubleshoot complex electrical and mechanical issues on specialized meat processing equipment including grinders, mixers, stuffers, form-fill-seal machines, conveyors, scales, HVAC systems, and thermal cooking equipment
  • Conduct thorough root cause analysis of equipment failures and implement effective solutions
  • Develop and manage comprehensive maintenance programs including predictive, autonomous, preventative, and emergency procedures

Operations & Budget Management

  • Manage maintenance budget, track expenses, and identify cost-saving opportunities
  • Oversee purchasing and inventory management of maintenance tools, supplies, and spare parts
  • Operate and maintain the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Prioritize maintenance requests based on urgency and resource availability

Safety & Continuous Improvement

  • Develop, monitor, and enforce safety protocols including LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) and electrical safety procedures
  • Lead reliability and production improvement initiatives to maximize uptime and efficiency
  • Analyze maintenance data to identify trends and implement corrective and preventative actions
  • Maintain detailed records and documentation of all repair activities

Requirements:

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or related technical field preferred
  • 5+ years of maintenance management experience in food processing or manufacturing environments
  • Strong technical knowledge of meat processing equipment and industrial systems
  • Experience with Food Safety regulations and Quality Management Systems
  • Proven leadership skills with experience managing maintenance teams and contractors
  • Proficiency with CMMS software and maintenance planning systems
  • Strong understanding of LOTO, electrical safety, and industrial safety protocols
  • Excellent troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and problem-solving abilities
  • Budget management and procurement experience
  • Knowledge of predictive and preventative maintenance methodologies
