The UYC Program is a cost contract awarded to RHD. It introduces interns, ages 16 to 23 to the human service field of working with people with developmental and intellectual disabilities or on the Autism spectrum. The program’s focus is on increasing each intern’s sensitivity to the needs of people with developmental disabilities and stimulating their interest in pursuing a professional career under the human services umbrella. This is accomplished by providing structured opportunities for each intern to develop relationships with consumers, and their families when possible, and to experience success in working with them to achieve their goals. An emphasis is placed on community inclusion, with intern playing a central role in bringing program individuals to community events to help foster integration.
Weekly schedule flexible between the hours of 8:30am to 4:00pm & 3pm to 11pm Residential:
· Monday
· Tuesday
· Wednesday
· Thursday
· Friday
· Saturday
General Responsibilities:
· Communicate professionally with staff and individuals
· Treat others with respect and dignity
· Arrive on time during all regularly scheduled hours
· Contact supervisor as soon as possible if running late.
· Give at least three days’ notice to request a day off
· Carry out assigned community involved activities
· Complete time entry in ADP at the end of every shift
· Participate as a team member, offering comments and support to other interns
· Attend all trainings, meetings and Urban Youth events (Wrentham and State House)
· Follow OTL and RHD policies and procedures
· Meet regularly with supervisor(s) for training, problem solving and supervision.
