The Business Intelligence (BI) Specialist is responsible for designing, building, and scaling analytics solutions that support operational decision-making and client reporting. This role leads end-to-end development across Power BI and Sigma, partnering closely with data engineering, product, and operations teams to deliver trusted, high-performing insights. The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise and a strong ability to translate business needs into impactful analytical solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own BI solutions end to end, including scoping requirements, modeling data, developing semantic layers, building dashboards/workbooks, and driving adoption across internal and client-facing use cases.
- Develop secure, scalable Power BI assets by implementing Row Level Security (RLS), optimizing DAX and Power Query, managing dataset refresh performance, and enforcing governance and documentation standards.
- Build Sigma assets on Snowflake, including interactive workbooks with governed live queries, parameterize controls, and contribute to embedded analytics patterns within the client portal experience.
- Design performance and intuitive data models using star/snowflake schema principles, conformed dimensions, reusable metrics, and cost-efficient query strategies.
- Ensure robust data protection through appropriate access controls and privacy best practices for PHI/PII; collaborate with Security and Compliance on audits and reviews.
- Operationalize insights by defining KPI standards, instrumenting usage, leading enablement sessions, and creating runbooks and user guides to scale self-service analytics.
- Partner closely with product managers, operations leaders, and data engineering to prioritize the BI roadmap and deliver measurable, outcome-focused solutions.
- Continuously improve BI development practices by standardizing patterns, performing code reviews, and contributing to our BI governance and tooling frameworks.
Qualifications:
Required:
- 10+ years of experience in BI/analytics with a demonstrated ability to deliver production-grade dashboards and data models.
- Expert-level Power BI skills, including DAX, data modeling, Power Query/M, performance tuning, RLS, and workspace governance in the Power BI Service.
- 1–3+ years of hands-on Sigma experience building live workbooks on Snowflake, with governed datasets and embedded analytics patterns.
- Advanced SQL proficiency across cloud data warehouses and databases (Snowflake, MSSQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle), along with Git-based version control and SDLC methodologies for analytics.
- Healthcare domain experience, particularly in revenue cycle, payer data, or clinical/financial reporting in regulated settings.
- Strong stakeholder leadership skills with the ability to translate business goals into analytical requirements and communicate effectively with executives and non-technical partners.
- Proven ability to produce documentation, including creating user guides, data dictionaries, and training assets.
Preferred:
- Familiarity with dbt, Python, or orchestration tools for ELT or semantic model automation.
- Background in data privacy, HIPAA-aligned practices, and audit readiness.
