Job Description:
- This employee is responsible for organizing and implementing a physical therapy program for exceptional education students.
- The role involves providing physical therapy as outlined in laws and policies.
Planning:
- Designing the physical therapy program to align with the educational philosophy of the district.
- Pursuing continuing professional growth through educational meetings and professional literature.
- Collaborating with other special education teachers and related personnel to develop the program.
Programming:
- Identifying strengths and weaknesses of referred special education students.
- Preparing, implementing, and evaluating an annual educational plan for each student based on assessed needs.
- Developing a plan of care for each student in accordance with district policies.
- Utilizing appropriate assessment instruments relevant to therapy areas.
- Supporting projects and programs designed to serve students in the program.
- Coordinating schedules for special education students with school personnel.
- Providing specialized physical therapy techniques through individual and group sessions.
- Seeking a variety of services through community resources to support students.
- Participating in the in-school staffing and screening processes as needed.
- Contributing to evaluation teams for special education students as appropriate.
- Offering parents suggestions for home techniques.
- Providing teachers with follow-up strategies and techniques as needed.
- Creating a professional library that can be used for reference.
