Lawrence Family Development Charter School is seeking 4 Basketball Coaches for Girls and Boys Grades 5th & 6th, and 7th & 8th Grade. The Basketball Coach is responsible for teaching basketball fundamentals, organizing and leading practices and games, fostering teamwork, and promoting a positive team culture. Basketball coaches are responsible for conducting themselves in an appropriate manner, setting an example for children, parents, and co-workers. The Basketball Coach is responsible for the safety and well-being of students participating in the program. The successful candidate must be very reliable, self-motivated, and a good role model
Responsibilities:
- Teach basketball fundamentals, skills, and strategies, and develop players physical conditioning.
- Create and implement offensive and defensive game plans and strategize for games.
- Guide and motivate players to improve their performance and potential, providing mentorship and guidance.
- Lead effective practice sessions and oversee all team activities, including games.
- Foster a positive team environment, teach sportsmanship, cooperation, work ethic, and responsibility.
- Communicate effectively with players, parents, club administrators, and the Director of Extended Day & Enrichment to ensure team success and program promotion.
- Ensure that the team adheres to all relevant rules, regulations, and club guidelines.
- Inform Director of Extended Day & Enrichment of general progress of the program and immediately regarding incident/behavior reports on students or with parent concerns.
- Available to work two evenings each week for practice and on the weekend for games.
- Ensure that all students are respectful of school property and school rules are followed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Experience/Qualifications:
- A strong understanding of basketball rules, strategies, and fundamental skills.
- The ability to lead, motivate, and positively influence players.
- Successfully pass background checks.
- Experience with diverse populations.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.
Work Environment:
- Ability to lead and participate in activities
- Ability to walk, stand and sit for long periods of time

Status: Part-Time. Approximately 4-5 hours/week from November until the end of February. Holidays and school vacation weeks off.
