Job Opportunity:

Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) has an exciting opportunity for an experienced IT Claims Quality Engineer Professional to join our Boston-based Information Technology Team. BHSI provides commercial property, casualty, healthcare professional liability, surety, executive, and professional lines insurance to global customers. We are creating and supporting multiple complex applications within BHSI and are seeking candidates with experience in Enterprise Application IT. An ideal candidate will have hands-on experience testing on the Duck Creek platform and a strong background in commercial P&C insurance, with a focus on Claims IT experience. Candidate should be interested in solving complex problems and providing testing solutions, enjoy a multicultural environment, and bring creative energy to their work.

The IT Claims Quality Engineer is responsible for engaging with business users and IT team members throughout the project lifecycle and supporting releases to production. In this role, you will actively engage and work with on-site and offshore consulting partners to execute our automation engineering activities.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Play a hands-on role in all testing of primary Claims & supplementary applications, including critical third-party integrations such as Hyland OnBase Workflow.
  • Design, write, and maintain automated test scripts.
  • Run automated test cases and analyze the results to ensure the application meets the requirements.
  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Collaborate with offshore and onsite colleagues to develop and execute effective long-term automation test plans.
  • Participate in the overall test planning & execution of Claims team testing objectives (test planning, design, execution, defect management, and reporting).
  • Collaborate with onsite analysts and offshore testing partners to develop and execute test scenarios to determine data quality and integrity.
  • Engage directly with business users during User Acceptance Testing to facilitate validation & troubleshoot user feedback.
  • Collaborate with peers and management to develop process standards and/or enhancements to prevent the recurrence of defects/bugs.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure quality throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Participate in troubleshooting sessions with development teams for timely turnaround of critical issues.
  • Understanding quality metrics and implementing measurements to determine test effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Adhering to best practices in analysis & documentation.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Quality engineering, automating test cases, and execution on web-based and desktop applications.
  • Experience in Test Automation tools and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Strong knowledge of at least one programming language.
  • Knowledge of best practices in test automation framework.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, critical-thinking skills and keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently when needed.
  • Must be highly motivated and demonstrate interpersonal skills.
  • Understanding of Agile, SDLC (Software Development Lifecycle), and STLC (Software Testing Lifecycle), including end-to-end testing concepts.
  • Knowledge of defect management tools such as Azure DevOps, Jira, Quality Center, or any other defect tool.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly organized and able to prioritize and track multiple deliverables and concurrent projects in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the Commercial Insurance domain.
  • Knowledge of Duck Creek Platform or equivalent P&C system and associated integrations.
  • Knowledge of Automation Tools, such as Katalon, Cypress, Selenium, NeoLoad, etc, is a plus.

The base salary range for this position in Boston is $90,000 to $115,000, along with annual bonus eligibility. Total compensation for a candidate is determined by their relevant skills, location, and experience.
