Womens Health Services is seeking a part-time Health Educator/Counselor to join our team. As a team member you will be an important part of a well-established and growing independent abortion clinic.
Responsibilities
- Provide patient-centered, non-judgemental educational and counseling services to those seeking abortion
- Obtain informed consent for the procedure opted for, ensuring understanding of the procedure, risks, and aftercare
- Provide education on contraceptive options and instructions for those prescribed
- Assure that patients with special circumstances receive the services and support they need
- Provide resources and referrals when appropriate
- Accurately document all patient encounters
- Facilitate intake and appointments using medical and financial guidelines
Requirements
- Interest in reproductive health care and abortion access
- College degree (in human services-related field) preferred
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to navigate stressful situations in a professional and compassionate manner
- Commitment to working pro-actively on an interdisciplinary team
- Computer skills required; electronic medical record familiarity preferred
- Non-English language skills desirable
- Training for exceptional new graduate, intern, or student candidates may be provided
