Job Description
Job DescriptionEmbark on a transformative journey as a Registered Nurse in Stepdown, a pivotal role that places you at the heart of patient recovery where critical transitions are guided with clinical precision and compassionate leadership. In this specialty, you steward patients who are stepping down from the ICU toward stability, balancing vigilant monitoring with proactive interventions, meticulous documentation, and clear, empathetic communication with families. Your expertise will drive safer trajectories, fewer complications, and smoother pathways to discharge. Imagine the impact you can make daily—turning high-stakes moments into meaningful progress, mentoring teammates, and shaping a care environment that honors both science and humanity. This opportunity unfolds in Keene, New Hampshire, a region celebrated for its warm communities and outdoor charm, from scenic parks and fall foliage to easy access to the White Mountains. Keene’s welcoming atmosphere provides a steady, supportive backdrop for your professional growth. For clinicians who crave broader horizons, this program also offers the option to participate in assignments across diverse U.S. locations, enabling you to broaden your clinical repertoire while retaining robust support and continuity of care.
Location benefits exceed the bedside. Keene offers a tight-knit community feel, convenient access to cultural events, and a high quality of life with four seasons of outdoor activities. You’ll enjoy a manageable cost of living, a charming downtown scene, and proximity to nature that rewards weekend explorations after purposeful shifts. The broader program presents the opportunity to work in multiple sites nationwide, exposing you to varied hospital cultures, patient populations, and interdisciplinary teams. Whether you remain in Keene or rotate to other locations, you’ll benefit from housing options or stipends designed to ease transitions, seamless travel coordination, and scheduling flexibility that respects your clinical expertise and personal commitments. Across assignments, you’ll find consistent access to resources, onboarding support, credentialing assistance, and a network of colleagues who share your dedication to high-quality patient care.
As a Stepdown RN, your day-to-day responsibilities center on advanced patient assessment and dynamic care planning. You will monitor hemodynamic status, perform comprehensive neuro and respiratory assessments, manage telemetry, and supervise complex IV therapies and medications with vigilance and precision. You’ll partner with physicians, bedside nurses, case managers, and pharmacists to craft and implement individualized care plans that reflect evolving conditions. Your role includes timely rounds, anticipatory guidance to prevent deterioration, and proactive communication with families to support informed decisions. You’ll contribute to discharge planning, patient education, and the optimization of transitions from unit to home or higher levels of care. The position offers clear pathways for growth: pursue Stepdown, Critical Care, or leadership certifications; take on precepting responsibilities for new graduates; assume charge nurse duties when appropriate; and build cross-unit versatility that strengthens your clinical leadership. In terms of benefits, you’ll receive a competitive weekly pay between $1,990 and $2,090, with additional opportunities such as a sign-on incentive, housing assistance, and potential extension options. You’ll be supported by a dedicated travel program that provides 24/7 assistance, streamlined credentialing, and real-time operational help so you can focus on patient care rather than logistics. The environment is collaborative and growth-oriented, with mentoring, ongoing education, and a culture that values clinical excellence, patient advocacy, and teamwork.
Company values are demonstrated in action through a commitment to empowering clinicians. The organization prioritizes professional development, transparent communication, and a supportive work climate where your expertise is recognized and your career goals are nurtured. You’ll find accessible leadership, structured advancement pathways, and a community that treats every nurse as a vital partner in delivering outstanding care. The intent is to cultivate long-lasting careers where your clinical mastery, teaching, and leadership contributions are acknowledged and rewarded, and where every assignment strengthens your confidence to lead, teach, and innovate.
If you’re ready to bring your Stepdown expertise to a role that blends meaningful patient impact with regional travel and professional growth, apply today. Start date: 01/05/2026. Assignment duration is measured in weeks, with opportunities to extend based on performance and patient needs. The compensation reflects weekly pay of $1,990-$2,090 and includes comprehensive support services, housing assistance, and 24/7 travel support from our dedicated team. You’ll join a program that champions your development, celebrates your contributions, and partners with you to craft a rewarding, enduring career in stepping down patients toward recovery and independence. Please note: The hours and pay rates listed are estimates and may vary. Final compensation packages and guaranteed hours will be confirmed during the hiring process.
